Maybe I over torqued then? Chris do you recall the torque spec on the VC off the top of your head?

My torque spec for them is what I imagine in my head to be about 10 ft*lb. I believe the true spec is actually 7 ft*lb though.

Some of us just don't know our own strength ;)

I'm needing to redo my VC gasket :D. What I thought was a leaking head gasket (which I had to hastily do outdoors - long story) actually turned out to be my VC leaking after a re-torque of my head studs. Take it from me people... don't take it (too much advice) from me! Use RTV! !

Hey, at least it's not a head gasket. Thanks for sharing! I didn't use a whole lot of RTV, hopefully its an a little goes a long way type of scenario.

Sure. My biggest fear is accidentally using too much and it squeezing into the valve train area and globs getting stuck to the oil pickup screen. Im trying not to over think it hah

That does sound terrifying, I won't feel so bad about barely using any then.
Anyone have any tips on getting your trim to fit back on after installing euro lights on a 200 20v? The housing for the lights comes out farther than the stock ones did.

No major updates, been busy and still trying to sell my VW. But I did take the 200 on it's maiden voyage Thursday (just to Seattle) and it ran great. No hiccups.

As expected... The 200's are solid cars. Lots of those running around with 2-300k on them.
what kinda plans do you have for it?

My first post on this thread has the long list I've been chipping away at, but in the near future (next month) I'm planning suspension and/or exhaust upgrades. I don't think a bigger turbo is on that first list, but that will be happening eventually too. and a lot of just maintaining and replacing whats on its way out.

Brake and suspension upgrades before increasing power is smart.

Brakes is such a great upgrade:)
I can say that mine have saved my life, guaranteed. Or I have tried to kill myself, however you may look at that.
Cara if you and your roomates ever want to get together and talk Audis PM me or let me know. I will be off for the next 5 days, working on my coupe in the shop for the majority of it.
Really trying hard to get it fully road worthy.
Avant is looking good and you are really tackling alot of stuff on it, its going to be in tip top shape.

I think I will need to upgrade the brakes at some point soon. There's so many little things to be done that its hard to prioritize/keep track, but I'm looking to cross a lot off the list in the next month or so.

I'm sure they'd love to get together, I would too. Let's set something up soon. Its winter break for us (now that finals are over I can put some more time into the 200) and I think we all have some mutual days off of work this week. Weren't you saying something about meets in town also?

That's a newer Audi head unit, not sure what it came in, but I think I saw one for sale on motorgeek awhile ago...

Just an update! I dumped some money into diving equipment to save money by not renting... So I've been financially delayed on major upgrades. But everything's been running great, installing some new tires and detailing today, we got a black on black 200 20v avant in the family this week. I'll be done with school next week for about 6 months and my work schedule isn't insanely demanding so hoping to really jump into it and have it all nice before the Leavenworth drive on Father's Day weekend. Anyone selling a front left cv axle?

Can relate to spending money on stuff besides car stuff. Computers take up the other %50 of my life. Ugh, Hobbies.

Was this 200 20V Avant from seattle CL? Saw one on there last week...

Just so you know, the front axles are the same left and right. Also, what's wrong with yours? You're best off with OEM if you can find one. If not, replace the CV (if that's the failed component).

I was worried it was her car for sale too. Glad it wasn't :)
