well it did come back, didn't it?

Cat-gutting did the trick which is something you actually suggested while we were phone-diagnosing. You got a good start on your turbo audi diagnostics

Aaaaaand now I have a clutch that works

Drove the car out of the driveway for the first time, albeit only long enough to turn the car around and point it in the other direction.

lol @ the stalling moments. I should add this car has not been tuned, at all. I have the wideband hooked up but couldn't get any data out of it. I'll have to trouble shoot that as my next todo item, right next to fixing a few coolant leaks.
Thanks for stopping by and taking some vids haydn, it was <sniff> quite a moment driving the car for the first time.

Man, been more than a week since a post in my project thread, time for an update

Couple of things, first off I figured out the source of my exhaust leak, the welds I made for the v-band flanges cracked on one side (I did not use any special methods on these. The one I gave to a professional welder to do on my wagon is holding up perftect to daily use and abuse, these failed just from test firing the motor and spinning it around in the driveway :-o)

The cure will be to grind off the old weld, heat the part to ~250F, use a high nickel content rod, and allow the piece to cool slowly. Thats what my welding instructor did for my GT3071 on the wagon and its holding perfect

While I was in there I knew I was going to have to re-route my coolant connections on the radiator as I had :tard: 'd ly put both input and output way high at the top on both ends of the radiator.. the effect being that only the first 3 rows or so were actually being used :bashtard:
So I'll be flipping around the connections so the copper adapter pipe will swing right and the connection at the t-stat will go to the bottom left hand corner (from the drivers perspective)

Got the turbo flanges all welded up today and re-installed them on the car. After I put the exhaust all back together I decided to investigate why the car was running so crappy when I drove it out of the driveway to spin it around in the garage. Turns out the last time I pressure washed the engine I apparently wasn't very careful about making sure water didn't get into the spark plug holes because there was all kinds of rusty spooge in #8 and #4, bad enough for the spring running in my coil pack connector to be corroded all the way down. Running on 6/8 probably doesn't make for a smooth running engine :-P
