Just visited Shannon and the bumper is fixed and new frame made up.
Sheetmetal pulled out and straightened so that the lid closes and opens as intended.
Pics tonight.
All that is left is quick splash of paint. Woohoo!!

Pics as promised

"Fits where it touches"

The frame is a lot nicer than original, Paul is an artist!

Will take pics once it's painted, it will be missing rear pin stripes in Carlisle, but at least it will be there.
Shame that few scratches mean the bumper and valance have to be repainted... doh!
Still on the fence if they should be single stage to match the car or clear coat... suggestions?

Cheers

Looking great Martin.

Carlisle here we come!!!!!

I'd keep the paint single stage, you might as well keep it all the same.

Talk to you soon.

Cheers,

Craig.

I think I know what it's like to have super powers for a day. I can't thank you enough Martin for letting me drive this incredible car. Who would have thought that the very first ur quattro I drive would be one as special as this. Chrissy had to keep telling me to calm down and enjoy it because I was freaking out. We recieved a lot of thumbs up driving it which was really nice too. It was just too much fun. My face still hurts from smiling too much. The best part of all is that Chrissy loved the car as much as I did. (more money in the urq budget lol) Thanks again, and the boost will be missed. :D

John, pleasure was all mine, watching the car drive from the outside is something we do not get to do very often.
Glad you had fun with it. Carlisle is always a special weekend and a fun drive.
Anytime you find yourself low in motivation the keys are yours.

Mosport Historic weekend in a month or so??

Cheers

You are welcome... John had yet to sample an Ur so this was a way to get him reved up about his project.

So your '85 was the one that Zoltan used to have briefly? I have some old pics of it, can send them your way if you don't have them.

Cheers

Thanks Mike, it's been a long process, but well worth it. Almost made it last year, so this year it was going to happen no matter what, even with the hickup just before.

If I did not mention it before, Thank you for all the work and effort you put into Carlisle.
I appriciate the amount of work it takes to setup an event like this, Thank you!!

Cheers

Martin, I can't thank you enough for the drive this weekend. Maybe I shouldn't be thanking you though because now I have to have one! Incredible car you have built. That thing is truly a blast! I felt like I was in an S1 by the sounds it was making :-)

Thanks Chris, means a lot from a MG veteran such as yourself.
Hope to see you in an Ur-q soon enough... maybe even a sport replica?? ;)
As Colin Chapman used to say, "add lightness".

Cheers

Yep, I'd say the lightness is what makes it the best quattro of them all! I spose I wouldn't mind a sport :-)

You might be thinking of a different UrQ as I know the complete history of mine. I'm the third owner and I've known the 2nd one for 20+ years and actually met the first one last summer as it was purchased new in my area.

I'd still like to see the pictures though.

The kind words are appreciated, Martin! Next year should be quite a treat and I look forward to seeing you there :D

Car looks great again Martin!
Would love to have gone.
Maybe next year I might have a visa to allow me into the States and Moneypit reliable enough to risk the journey !
