Did you have to cut it, or is the size good? Don't know how wide the trunk on my car is[/quote]
The trunk is exactly 50.5. Perfect fit!
AMD's 91 200q Project
Posted: Wed Jan 26, 2011 7:27 amPulled the trigger last night on the turbo!
Standard GT3076r, braided line oil/water kit, silicone intercooler hoses and a wastegate spring.
Tax return = VEMS, coils, external LCD display and hopefully injectors.
In the meantime I am cleaning up the engine bay and trying to resolve the hydraulic systems leaks.
More pics to come.

Jealous??? Yours is far sweeter! But thanks man!loxxrider wrote:soo...by standard gt3076, do you mean a hybrid one that will bolt up to stock mani or are you getting a different manifold?
I got the K26/GT3076r hybrid to bolt on to the stock manifold just for cost savings and convenience at this point. Come this winter I'll swap out the housing for a Tial V-band and have a manifold built. Should still be pretty bad ass!

Re: AMD's 91 200q Project
Posted: Fri Jan 28, 2011 6:03 amI've been working on cleaning everything as thoroughly as possible. Changed the timing belt, water pump, idler pulley and thermostat. De-greased all sorts of brackets, clamps, bolts, and coolant pipes. Painted a bunch of little covers and brackets satin black. Left the aluminum pieces raw. Also had the flywheel resurfaced and ordered a few fittings for the oil cooler and bolts from the dealer.
Still more cleaning to be done but here are a few pics:
Flywheel back from the machine shop:
Engine before cleansing:
New timing treats installed:
Timing all buttoned up and significantly more clean!:
Still more cleansing to do but MUCH better:
Thanks my Dad making custom tools for all these crazy Audi projects!
Slide hammer to remove timing idler and crank pulley lock tool:
Machining the crank lock too:
Turbo is in the mail along with the braided lines/fittings, silicon charge hoses and a wastegate spring (1.9bar). Next Friday (payday) I am ordering the VEMS ECU, wideband, coils, external display and injectors.
Anyone know where/how to get a direct replacement 4bar fuel pressure regulator?
Re: AMD's 91 200q Project
Posted: Fri Jan 28, 2011 8:17 amnice! I believe the AAN uses 4 bar FPR no?
Also, I don't know what that wg spring will put you at for boost (presumably around 13 psi), but that might be too much for stock injectors on a turbo that size even with 4 bar fuel pressure. You'll see when you go to tune though. I'd suggest just keeping your stock wg spring in there. Its plenty good for as much boost as you want and good spool especially with the ability to play with the PID settings in VEMS.
Re: AMD's 91 200q Project
Posted: Fri Jan 28, 2011 8:20 amaan FPR is totally different. Its like the 1.8t style drop in regulator. Wont really work on a 3b setup.
Re: AMD's 91 200q Project
Posted: Fri Jan 28, 2011 8:22 amoh nevermind then
Just get some injectors sucka! They shouldn't cost much more than a new FPR unless you get one from the jy or used or something
Re: AMD's 91 200q Project
Posted: Fri Jan 28, 2011 8:28 ami think you might be able to fit a 7a fpr to the 3b, and I think it will increase the pressure under boost. Might be worth checking into.
Re: AMD's 91 200q Project
Posted: Fri Jan 28, 2011 8:33 amThat WG spring should be good for a min of 14-15psi which would absolutely be pushing the stock injectors. I plan on getting some Siemens 60lb's or 83lbs for injectors when I order the VEMS but I also wanted to bump the pressure if there was a drop in solution like the 1.8t, 2.7t etc... If not, no big deal.
Re: AMD's 91 200q Project
Posted: Sat Jan 29, 2011 1:17 pmNo big updates but I wrinkle coated the valve cover:
Turbo and other 034 treats will be here next Friday and that's also the day I order the VEMS, coils, external LCD display, wideband and injectors.
