oh i been plenty busy up in here.

put a new motor in the race car here, and built the second loft, two more walls of shelving, half of the ceiling is now insulated, and then today a pic sequence on how to get a car into bay 3.

got the fabrication area insulated and drywalled it so the insulation wont accidentally catch fire and burn my whole operation down! that would be very saddening.

and boy does a little insulation (just the same white polystyrene foam extrusion) and topping it with drywall make for a SOLID sounding area, echos in there as well. but the walls, they feel nice and solid when you smack them now.

what i really need to do is figure out where i should put a woodstove :-)

MORE SHELVES (these are going to be cabinet doored) and i finally brought my little lathe home. i got it in June and had it at Joeys shop until i was ready for it.

and now for the housewarming gift to self: Grizzly 9x19 mini lathe! with lots of neat stuff like multiple live and dead centers, steady and follow rests, face plate, 3 and 4 jaw chucks. sure its no big thing, but it makes chips and turns larger metal parts into smaller metal parts.















and yesterday another scar YAY! not really yay. this one hurts like a M-F'er. for sure. can barely move around. long time hernia got aggravated and worse a few months ago. needed done. so done it was.

the show must go on. i have NEVER been one to just sit idly by and watch life pass me up. i do what i can, and hope that i have a good enough grasp on whats REALLY happening to know when is when.

so far so good i guess.

taking it really easy and only doing light duty stuff. no real lifting, staying within the hernia surgeons limits (within reason) for lifting, etc. down to only a couple pills a day, the bruising is starting to fade, and the internal pulling/tugging/pain is starting to fade as well. and with that, i did some wiring today and small shelf building, cleanup and organizing stuff as always. someday i will have nothing to do out here BUT work on a car.

yesterdays work entailed building the cabinet doors for the cabinet shelves in bay 3. plywood and corner trim, no big thing. i am no finish carpenter, more like barely a starting carpenter. they turned out acceptable to me. even went out and bought a cheapy lil nail gun, which made me have to get the compressor put away and set up haha. i "might" even make a small run of shop air piping, i have all of the material left over from a job waiting for me to do so. 3/4" copper with all the fittings, etc. and the Pro-Press makes it so fast and easy! in fact, yeah i think i will plan on that sometime soon, or over winter.















wired the 220v outlet for the TIG welder.







wired some plugs for the workbenches as the only outlet was buried behind the toolbox.



put up some small shelves for misc storage bins/parts containers. put lots of tools away and cleaned off the work benches. and yes we have full interwebz out in the shop but no printing lol.







labelled the panel for circuit identification.



and i already have stuff to do for tomorrow as well. lots of light easy stuff, i need to stay active and moving. i dont wanna go cray-zee!

finally got 96% of the roof insulated. and half of it wired up with chicken wire. gave up on the second half til spring.

need to put insulation in the peak space on 2 bays.

gonna go around the back today outside and squirt in the spray foam to seal the eaves, i did the front already. may do the same on the roof, as it was built with an open pitch top, its just a pole barn you know. well it started as just a pole barn anyhow. i will have to put some vent/louvers in the two high ends next year but for the time being sealed will have to be it.

got a couple more sheets of the wall foam insulation to put up, and then that is completed. put the MK3 back inside, and got a concrete blanket from work and nailed it over the sliding door to help seal it up for the winter. next year this will change, but for now its perma closed for the winter.

thinking about buying a small milling machine, something to twiddle away on if i want to make something.

thats it, almost closed up for the season!!!! and its cold here!!!!

no pix to see really, nothings changed. been messing around practicing TIG welding. and organizing stuff. and planning the addition. i think 36x20 or 24 is gonna be what i end up building, out to the front. i dont need space for myself really, but i want to keep wifeys cars inside. that way i will move the MK3 out front, opening up bay 4 for a car project. have the two CQ's and the Rado all inside in a row. done deal.

havent spent a ton of time looking at different ones, just looked at a few from Grizzly.

this one i like for the DRO, and its simple. and not super expensive. i gig look thru Craigslist locally a little bit. but if imma get one, it takes out of the new car fund, and i am not sure i want to do that quite yet. i do not have a NEED for it at the moment. i do need to make a couple things, but i can use the mill at the race shop

That's small for what I want. I think what I am looking at is small for what I want but it may do.

So I jammed out this ferret mansion for wifey and Chubs three ferrets. Will finish it tomorrow. Reused the doors off of my way long time ago reef tank setup. I love being able to reuse stuff. I just kinda build to suit with what I have laying around most times. Whatever meets the end results.

4 feet wide, 4 feet tall and 2 feet deep. Ought to give those three weasels some decent room. Removable (from the outside even) litter pan for ease of cleaning. Multi levels with lots of play room.

That mill is tiny but works for me as I don't have much space and still need room for other tools.

I got that same kit for my harbor fright 7x10, needs more tool holders but it made setup times way shorter.
