Wish I had more time to discuss the progress, but I have 85 hours worth of welding to do in a 60 hour window. Needless to say, it is making excellent power. Impressions?

EFR8374 is pretty wicked.

Spool valves to work if you tak the time to set them up properly

Big intercoolers with name brand cores are worth their weight in gold

type 44s squat like a MOFO, 225 tires produce the first awd wheel spin on my dyno when rolling into throttle at 7000

We can't wait for our CNC heads to be finish that basically mimick this head on this vehicle

Consuming nearly 6400cc of fuel a minute at 8000 rpm means 20 gallons have vanished fairly quickly.

034's 60-2 on the front pulley truly is a POS, it made us stop at ~610whp/450wtq at about 24.8psi

Image

The dotted lines is our Billet k26 for reference. Yes, this setup is wicked.

Cheers,

Hank

So are 4k power bands going to be the norm now? Holy f that torque curve is amaze balls. Lol. Awesome awesome work to everyone involved.

Over 600 hp and it looks like there's room for plenty more boost. Damn piece of sh*t 034 60-2 damper reluctor ring seperated and shut the project progress down. But looking at the graph, this thing looks like it is going to produce as planned. I Cant freakin wait to get it going again and see what this thing is capable of when throwing more fuel and boost to it.

For EFRs on strokers? Probably.

That is the most insane power curve I have ever seen on our old I5's. I expect the power curve will keep going at the same rate all the way to 8500 too. Almost 5k of brutal power band. Plus I would expect it to spool another couple hundred rpm quicker on the road in third gear. I bet in 5th and above full boost at 3000 rpms is not our of the question.

Wow.

For the sake of the thread:

hank wrote:Here is another interesting plot. 07k with stock head/cams HTA3582r which isa 5962 vs the 2.5 ur20vt with EFR8374. So overall power can't really be compared, but what is interesting is the torque ramp rate of the EFR plus spool vavle compared to the HTA. Once you have wrapped around that data, check out how the VVT in the 07k is able to match torque an hp despite spooling 200-300rpm later.

I would love to see a graph where boost was closer. The QSV really brings that 8374 in line. Do any runs with the QSV disabled (open) so we can see how "slow" it spools normally?

I can't wait for 07k with VVT + big cams + big turbo + QSV + Hank's small runner manifold, spool city Batman. The only thing that bugs me about Sean's graph is the falloff. Bigger turbo and cams should fix that :)

I'm sure there will be some video coming once the car is running again. I don't think Hank was expecting a failure on the damper in the middle of tuning. I need to plan on getting a 60-2 flywheel so I don't have to rely on the 60-2 on the crank pulley screwing up again :bangshead: . She started out at 275hp, then 300, then 350, 400, 500, 600hp... then failure on the 034 Motorsport 60-2 damper. Once it is repaired or replace, then it is back to bumping it up and seeing what this set up is capable of. I am very happy to see not so much of a curve on the Dyno, but a predictable, wide, useable, straight, power increase as RPM's increase. Seems like the this recipe is coming out perfect for my daily sleeper. The plan is to put my larger injectors in and see what this EFR 8374 falls off at. Then possibly swap it out for a EFR 9180 just for curiosty. Jim has real world experience with quick spool valves and from what he is saying, it will spool a little quicker on the street compared to the dyno. It looks like it is building boost pretty quick and if experimenting with a larger 9180 isnt too laggy... maybe I might start looking at getting one. Hell, right now... the numbers look good enough to just enjoy the car as a 600hp with only 24 psi. I think it will really start to wake up once this motor starts creeping up toward 30 psi.
Other two items to address is motor movement and the H&R springs squatting in the rear too much under load. Hank is saying he will have to block the rear up to push it any further. I know everyone said brakes and suspension... and I knew that, but it has been a long road to get to the point where the car is alive again. I will need to beef up the brakes and suspension. Will be hunting for 996TT calipers in the front, ECS tuning big brake kit in rear, and some coil over set up for suspension. I think I will try track density trans mounts or looking for some feedback on others out there on the market.... Just don't want something solid.

Not 600hp, 600whp. You're closing in on 800hp here bud, lol

Impressive so far and it is just going good to do more of the same!

You could just do the rear coil overs for now with a 600 or 700 lb spring to minimize squat.

I am working out a double adjustable koni shock for the rear, I don't want to deal with revalving the off the shelf parts.

Rear coils should be $100 in parts and $100 max in labor. Anyone who takes more than an hour to assemble and install rear coilovers on a T44 isn't worth their weight in dog poop. That'd be a reasonable fix in my opinion.

I hope you do experiment with the 9180. If you can make over 800 whp with it, then I may have to reconsider. I wish they just made one size above it though!

I have solid trans and motor mounts in my 200 and honestly, it isn't too bad! It is a lot more civilized than you'd think. Just make sure to go delrin or try the HPR mounts. Poly will be even better for NVH. Then again, I'm sure Hank can set you up with something strong too.

Gear being welded up!

Yeah, Josh, this is 600whp, or roughy 766hp at the crankshaft if you do a low 20% drivetrain loss. This thing is flat moving some air.

Yes some coil overs in the rear would be fairly easy to do and would help it. On these 20v rear fenders, the rim actually disappears below the fender on boost. lol, I didn't anticipate the crank triggers to hang us up or I would have taken more video. One of my customers swung by the shop during tuning and I think he filmed some mid 500whp pulls.

If you make 700whp with "full boost" around 4krpm, I would suggest keeping this turbo in the car. Such a ridiculously perfect setup. So much power and amazing spool.

:drive: Yeah, 700 to the wheels will be fun. That should be enough to play with most cars on the road. 3:89's, TDI 6speed, and a nice straightaway .. Curious what it can do. I think Jeff did roughly 260mph with 4:10's, 6 speed and 10,000rpm. I'm sure mine should be capable of atleast 160mph. :P that will get you back and forth to work in a hurry.
