alright, more progress this weekend. I started working on mounts for the radiator and the intercooler. Yesterday I decided to replace the timing belt cog gear as insurance, wish I had it on hand when I did the belt the first time around.. but it was interesting looking at the old one. There was a good chunk missing out of the keyway :-o

So after a bit test fitting (ok, a lot of test fitting) I fabbed up a bracket that looks like this:

a pair of stock 4kq rubber bushings on the bottom of the radiator

intercooler mounting. Yes I know its weeny sized, its only for one turbo.. the other turbo will run its own side mount intercooler

radiator mount holes

getting there...

misc. happenings around the shop. Myke building a spiral staircase landing for a friend

and dennis putting his mid-rise lift to good use repairing a wheel bearing on his boat trailer

Hopefully more tomorrow, not sure if I'll get a chance to be over at the shop or not.

Ok, lets talk coolant flow for a moment.
A diagram to aid the discussion:

I need to source supply and return lines for the turbos and I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about it. The cleanest way would probably be to use the turbo style freeze plugs on both sides but I dont think I want to go that route since I'm not even sure if the freeze plugs are the same size.
I'd like to run the lines toward the rear of the motor for neatness, so I _think_ I can get away with grabbing lines off the pipe that runs along the back side of the motor. The single port on the bottom with the long pipe extension basically grabs water from right behind the t-stat, so I would take that to be the water SUPPLY, since it will have just come off the radiator when the t-stat is open. The other two ports are connected to the back of the heads which I think should be the return. That pipe normally intersects with the expansion tank and the heater core lines.
Thoughts?

Well Marc, your way smarter than me when it comes to audi's so im assuming if you've thought about it for a while its probably a pretty sound idea, none of that raised any red flags in my mind, but i am in no way 'smart' when it comes to audis

Just be sure to feed the turbos with radiator outlet, and return the hot coolant to radiator inlet.
Nate will chime in I'm sure 8)
