I'm thinking its going to do the job very well. Might need some 7" springs instead of 6". We'll see about that though. Even cranked up all the way it should be lower than where it was on my lowest reasonable (travel wise) setting before. Definitely looking forward to it :)

Just waiting on Hank's box to get here now and waiting on Bilstein of course. I'm hoping to get it running this weekend. If not then, I really hope to get it running by next weekend because I have to leave for school on Saturday the 20th!

Luckily I've fixed the E34 in almost every way. I put a bangin sound system in, the suspension is nice and tightened up/safe now, and brand new tires went on today. The vibration I had before is now totally gone since I got the new tires :) Also put *most* of the exhaust back on lol. Everything sans the rear muffler. Sounds pretty nice and has NO drone at any speed! I have now decided that its getting turbo'd after the Audi gets "finished". HX52 on the Audi leaves me with the H1C for the 530i. Should spool it pretty nice and make good power on 8-10psi or so. I'll have to make a project thread when that comes closer to fruition. Or I could buy a 600+ hp NA crate M60 for it :D Ah, one can dream!

Anyway, for now I'm just happy that full attention can be given to the Audi as soon as parts come!

I knew it wouldn't be long before this, lol. You know the exhaust pluming would suck for just a single H1C, wouldn't it be so much easier to have twin H1Cs! :D :woowoo:
I'll swap to a VGT and you can have mine.

I guess you were right about the spacer, good to know though.

Man, I'm going to miss seeing the audi next year, but I guess it is for a good cause (hx52)!

We may have our cars going the same time then. My goal is this weekend, but I guess we'll see. Good luck with yours! Get that huge turbo on there already!

Justin, I'm actually really looking forward to seeing the two classic BMW's outside the window. Both black, both with dual round headlights, both lowered on stock wheels (lol). Not much better than a turbo E30 and a v8 E34. Its pure late 80's/early 90's BMW bliss! That said, I will definitely miss going for rides in the Audi. If I get it running nicely in time, I might consider registering it for spring semester. I agree that twin H1C's would be nice, but maybe a bit overkill. I have thoughts of just flipping the exhaust manifolds around and routing both pipes to where the stock airbox sits. That wouldn't be too bad. I dunno, I'm just dreaming here ;) I'll have to take a better turbo-placing prospect adventure next time I'm under the hood. Whats extra good is that all the fabbed up parts should swap over to a 4.0 or 4.5l swap should I choose to go that route someday.

I can't wait for the huge one Garrett. Like you said, even if its just to hear the spool and not boost very much for the time being lol.

I just want mine to start at this point... I may just weld in some flex-pipe for downpipe until I build up some funds to make my 3" downpipe and tube header... and tig welder... :-/ it may be a while... I need another job haha.

The thing that really worries me is I may need to make some custom oil lines now. I know the return is gonna be a pain. The supply may make it... I hope that it looks decent for carlisle. Go before show, but you typically get made fun of for the looks, unfortunately.

Very true! Chris gave me all the info for Race Parts Solution to get the lines from them

By the way, my drain is not too small. I figured out my smoke problem was from a blocked off CCV. My bad, haha

i guess it'll be different for your car, but for the return its garrett gt series oil flanges on each side (turbo and block return) and then whatever fittings you need between them. Probably 3 feet of line? I dunno.

My feed is 24" and -3. Feed into the turbo is 12mmx1.5 and you can get either an adapter from 12x1.5 to -4 and use a -4 to -3 adapter or you might be able to get 12x1.5 to -3. Not sure. I like to use an o-ring to help seal that fitting that goes into the turbo.

Then from the oil filter housing you can get a part from 034 that adapts to -4. Again, misc. adapters may be needed here and there, but you'll get the job done.

I guess you could say today was a good day...

Got some good stuff from Hank, Marc, and Stephen (Kuma)

Image

First item up, the Hank manifold of course!

Image

Now I have a place for my fancy vac/boost fittings :)

Image

Weldon FPR for up to 200 psi fuel pressure ;)

Image

only gauge I could find that goes kinda high and isn't ebay lol. I'll probably replace that with a sensor soon.

Image

I forgot I was getting these lol

Image

Image

(don't mind the dust I got in this one)

In the first pic you can also see the new 1.8t MAT sensor, Toyota TPS I have to figure out, modified water manifold, some new Hank motor mounts!, and a freakin awesome huge knife that Kuma sent me along with the fo' free heater valve thing. Thanks guys! I also added the HX52 in there for size reference and had the VEMS out for some soldering work.

so uh yeah... thats about it! Next step is to start getting this bish back together and then get Hank tubular manifold, build motor, and ride out! Next summer of course ;)

Thank you so much Marc, Hank, Kuma, and everyone else who has helped thus far!

How embarrassing that I forgot to erase the sharpie of where I was goign to put the throttle cable tab!!

Chris knows how I feel about the throttle body. Good news is that the hargot clamps make fixing that lapse of judgement easy!!!

Get er done Chris!

Yeah, I must say, I saw Hank working on that luscious intake manifold. It is a work of art as always...but that t-body...ugh.

Chris, the knife is from Kuma. I sent him a care package while he was in Iraq and it had a little R8 Audi in it which he carried in his pocket at all times. He knew the traumatic experience I had and sent me the Kukri to help ward off any future home intruders lol. It also has some meaning to it because he carried it with him in Iraq for two tours. Stephen FTW!

Todd, those are DM Forged Rods. I got them from Hank, but Marc (EFIexpress) also has them. They are really nice pieces and I expect very good things from them. Being I-beams, they are a bit lighter than most, have less windage losses, and are rated for 275 hp per rod. They are rifle drilled stock, come with ARP 2000's stock or upgrade to 625's (what I'm doing), and they are machined in North America. Seemed like a no-brainer for me especially considering the retail price of $625. H-beams are available too (fo cheaper ;) )

Yes, the tb is ugly, BUT its solid and is a true 3" ID. Much better than the $100 ebay specials if you ask me. I heard someone here was having trouble with theirs recently. Like Hank said though, its easy enough so switch it out if I need a 4" one lol. The manifold was designed with that in mind. Also, I like that it added more variety to my parts list:

Coils (LS2)
Turbo (Dodge Cummins)
TB (Lexus 1UZ)
Wheels (Lambo/Porsche/Mercedes/BMW lol)
Brakes (Porsche)
Suspension (circle track cars)
VEMS (from Hungary)
exhaust muffler/hangers (Honda)
etc.... you get the idea

oh and here are some pics

Image

Image

Image

mind you the tb isn't even attached; its just floating among a mess of wires.

and again, ef all you about the tb lol

Dude, if you can get the TB to work, who cares what people say?

Gotcha about the knife.

I love the looks of those parts! That hx52 needs to go on there sooner rather than later. Honestly, I don't think the throttle body is that bad. I like the variety. What soldering do you have to do to the ecu?

Oh I know about the tb. I just care that it lets me make the power I want to make. I'm all about go. Don't care about show.

Jon, I know... I would have it on now if I could! I just have to remove a resistor in the ECU which is needed for the stock PTC MAT sensor found on the old cars.
