Water mani sent out for modification and the Hank manifold along with some other goodies should be on its way relatively soon. That coupled with me dd'ing the BMW means I'm starting to kick back into gear for this car.
Since I ditched my stock intake manifold and such, I now have some hurdles to jump over... I need to redo the fuel system (for the new fuel rail, not to mention for safety) so I figure I'll just run some really nice lines to a surge tank using the stock fuel tank +040 to feed the surge tank and then another 040 I have laying around after the tank just to get around for a bit. I'll need a nice Weldon FPR as well. I gotta figure out how I am going to run the lines though... I don't want to drill into the floor if possible.
I started removing the PS pump tonight and when its out I plan to order a rebuilt one and get all new lines made out of the nicest stuff I can find. I really hope I can get away with not spending too much and just get this old girl back together and driveable so I don't feel bad about it being apart and sitting for a long time.

Umm, at the shop I have a 55gallon drum of Meth, I mix it down for washer solvent... This may aid your decision.
And I am thoroughly jealous of that intake manifold.

So I finally resumed progress on the Audi a bit today. More details on that at the bottom of the post. There are some really good reasons I haven't been able to work on it. I'll try and explain. A lot of you guys are kinda like a small second family to me, so I would like to share this. Sit tight, because this is going to be long (but good).
This is what happened through my eyes. Two weekends ago, I witnessed something crazy. I was sleeping at my girlfriend's parents' house after going to her grandparents' 60th anniversary party. At about 4:00 a.m. I woke up to some yelling. I distinctly heard my girlfriend's dad yell, "Who are you!??!?" at which time I woke my girlfriend up because it sounded very frantic and then there was a very loud BANG followed by some clanking on the floor. I then heard, "OMG you shot him!", "CALL 911!", and just general disarray.
I told the gf to call 911 which she did immediately and I then proceeded to grab my Sog knife to embark a mission to defend the family if needed. I walked down the hallway to the sight of a young white man bleeding profusely... no... rather pumping out of his chest, gasping for his last breaths of air with two HUGE butcher knives laying right next to him. The ONLY thing going through my mind at that moment was that I needed to make sure this guy was not going to inflict any further damage on anyone and so I just stood there partially in shock and partially ready to take action if he somehow magically got up. Looking back, I should have known the guy was done for, but you never know what a crazy drug addict might be able to do. I also just woke up and had never seen someone dying before. I just had to make sure the guy was done. I wasn't taking any chances.
I really don't know how long I stood there for, but when I was content that he wasn't going anywhere I sheathed my knife and started to comfort my girlfriend's little sister who was weeping on the ground trying to give the 911 operator enough details for the police to know what they were about to get into. I honestly thing the police were there within 2-3 minutes. Time isn't really comprehensible in a situation like this, but I know it wasn't more than 5 minutes. I stated in there until they all stormed in, guns drawn and then I had to get out. We couldn't go back in until 11:00 or so at which point we had to begin cleaning up the mess. So you've heard the story from my perspective... The following is the story of what happened after all of the evidence and stories were put together.
At approximately 4:00 a.m. a white, male individual about 19 years old drugged on pills, alcohol, and who knows what else (I tend to think it had to be meth) broke into my girlfriend's house by pushing in a window in the kitchen door. My girlfriend's younger sister woke up to the window crashing on the floor and thought it was probably the cat knocking something over. Then she heard the knife drawer open (it makes a very distinct noise) and at that point she knew something was wrong and went into her parents' room and woke her father. He thought, oh its just a friend of the kids being an idiot but he grabbed his gun just in case. He stuck it in a pillow case so as to not scare a kid if that was the case and walked out to the living room. At that point someone came running down the hallway and let out a yell (as if to scare someone) and since the lights weren't on yet the father said something to the effect of, "You idiot, I almost just shot you!" still thinking this was one of the kids' friends.
He then turned the light on and saw that it was someone he'd never seen in his life and that this person was brandishing knives above his head. He asked the other people who were awake at that point if anyone knew this man and noone did. This was when he asked, "Who are you!?!?" and the guy apparently said, "I'm a neighbor" or something to that effect... very creepily/crazily and then began to stand up and come towards my girlfriend's father (knowing he had a gun pointed at him). The shot was fired and he went down instantly. You know the rest of the story from my account above. A while later we learned that the bullet hit the butt of one of the knives the guy was holding (because he was waving them so wildly) which changed its course. It was a hollow point .44 magnum and it went through his sternum, his heart, his left lung, and out his shoulder. Being a .44 magnum, only one shot was needed. He had no chance. Something of that caliber is what is needed for someone as drugged as this guy. I fear that he may have kept coming if it didn't put him down instantly. This guy wasn't out to steal anything. There were at least 6 cars outside along with 4-wheelers, tools, and such which could have easily been stolen. I think he was out for blood, and the detectives think he possibly intended to rape the women. There was also a baby in the house.
All I know is that my girlfriend's dad is a true hero for saving all of our lives and so is her sister for happening to wake up and doing what she did when she did. I'm not too religious, but I'm just thankful that we are all alive and well. Noone got hurt except for the intruder. I'm counting my blessings. I'm also buying a gun and a concealed carry license.
OK story time is over. I got the steering rack out of the Audi today finally. This is a milestone because it means it can go mostly back together now after I get some new lines made for it!
I need to figure out the fuel system since my new manifold and fuel rail wont exactly allow for stock fuel lines.
Also, the audi took one for the team today. A much needed/rare part got sent to somewhere in the midwest for a very awesome car to make it to an awesome event.
