I really appreciate all your feedback! Dan, I checked over the tires VERY carefully, specifically for signs of cord separation, bludges etc. They come with a warranty from Schuabies so I think I will be in good shape till I can afford the holy grail (Dunlops).
Jon, the engine has yet to be built up, soooo as soon as I scrape my pennies together I will get the sucker built up and in. I can't wait! Seeing this everyday is going to provide HEAP LOADS of motivation. I think it's time to pick up a 2nd job again so I can get to it.
Let me know if you want any help building your motor. I'd be stoked to come up and help!

Didn't get much done to the Audi this weekend, but I did make great progress to my place! I think it's turning out really really nice for a freakin single-wide!

Nice work there Ben. Home is a little more important than the 4kq, barely, but it is. I sent one of my hero HD's up to Derek so you guys can "document" your trip to battleborn. Wish I could make it this year since you guys are going, but there is always next year.
EDIT: Did you install new cv shafts or did you throw on some new boots? Either way, it's another step in the rigth direction. Keep it up.

I am pretty stoked about how the place is turning out. A few more days and it should be all sorted out, then I can really lay down some good quality time on the Audi. Oh and just on a side not I scored a 2nd job mechanicing at a local shop, so now I will be doing pizza at night and cars in the morning. HOPEFULLY I will have some decent funds to throw at the Audi in short order.

The 4k got some new reman shafts. So they should be great till I break them.

So, I have been SUPER busy leaving one job and getting into another. I am now full time tech at a local mechanics shop. I have 3 bays all to myself! WOOT! So once the money starts rolling in, it will begin to roll out onto the 4kq ASAP (After Battleborn). I am really stoked at this point. I am just trying to figure out what funds should go to first, either they will be going towards nailing down the engine rebuild or my ECU set up. What do you guys think?

I vote for the engine build first.

That is the direction I am leaning, going to cost lots of MONIES!

Congrats on the new job. You engine build might effect your ecu needs.

Sell that spare kidney you've been dragging around your whole life to fund the build
BTW, What are your plans for the build?

I had a pretty good conversation with a fellow MG'er last night and I think I have nailed down that I am going to do it two phases:
Phase one:
ARP Headstuds, MLS HG, VEMS EFI, RS2 turbo (or around that size), Ebay header and 01E
Phase Two:
Pick up spare bottom end and build up with 83mm JE pistons, IE Rods, SS Header/DP, PTE5857, Coated bearings, high rate valve springs, Titanium retainers, etc.
There are a few reasons I have chosen to go this route, one being that I am a novice to the tuning scene and if I blew up my built engine because i didn't know what i was doing I would be really upset with myself and it would be a monumental waste of money. So I figure if I make a mistake, it needs to be on an engine that doesn't have all the goodies, two I can get running and driving MUCH MUCH Sooner, feasibly by December if I dump tons of time into it and Three, going this route will save me a lot of money in the short run and I can spread out the expense over a much longer period of time. All in all I think it's a pretty good plan.

I like your plans, they look good. Why RS2 turbo and not some sort of Holset?

an hy35 or h1c/hx35 would be awesome

The thought had crossed my mind, but I already have an Ebay header and that requires KKK hotside

Ah, that's true. But you could probably sell that and get a T3 flanged one and a holset for less than the other turbo

Good point, I will have to do a bit of digging and see what I can come up with.

What turbo do you plan for phase 2? Hopefully not RS2
