Looking great Hank!!!
There's nothing better than the look of a fresh painted engine bay.
I think you and your dad are competing for sure..........brilliant.
cheers,
Craig

1000whp wow it will need 9000+ rpm that said ds is a must, I'm getting excided about this make shore that ds will bolt in a b3 chasis

Granted they just tossed a rod ,Jeffs landspeed beast made 960whp reving to 9300. I think .3L more would lower that to 8700 which is obtainable with the stock pump in limited situations. I don't need 1k whp for the use of this car. I want 600whp under the curve in weekend trim at the track. 1k whp would just to help develop parts and sell manifolds. Not to say dry sump is out of thr question, it just isn't likely in the near futire

Any word on why that car threw a rod?

Judging by the bluing on what was left of the big end of the rod, I would say that it had oiling issues and froze. Probably sustained 9500 was not the kindest on the stock oil pump. Go to Apikols FB page to see pictures of the sadest looking Pauter I have ever seen.

Have they disasembled oil pump yet?? It has happened many times when peeps try to run them over 8500rpm and few known cases when op has failed at 8500 that engine should had a ds on it no doubt a bout it.

They have not. I talked to Brenden at apikol at length about the failure. That engine has hundreds of dyno pulls at 9600 on the oil pump. There are several folks that have oil pump failures at only 8000. My point is that I am not convinced that more than 8500 means the pump will self district. Just like the exhaust valvrs, I think it is fairly fluke. It could go today, or it could go next year. It's not like drysump isn't the same thing. Javad went through a couple of motors fine tuning the kit on their time attack car.

Hank that's the thing my old op showed some serious scratches on a housing and gears, Nd it never did see more than 8500rpm is it possible it will fail at 8000. - 8500 rpm he'll yah @ 9000 yup just moved your luck level up by 90. %should really buy and take one of s2000 oil pumps a part and see what is different in there to live for 100000+ miles @92000 rpm red line with out any probs

My limiter has been set at 8700 for quite a while. I have been on the same pump since going 20v. I had a little bit of wear on the center bore, but the surfaces were surprisingly clean. I wonder if coating the gears and surfaces would help with wear...
Some day I will DS it, but for now, I am going to go stroker and push the whole powerband down. With the 95.5 crank, piston speeds are getting pretty darn fast at 8500 as is. I will still have the rev limiter at 8700, but only use it in corners that need the extra range. This motor won't ever need a dry sump, as I don't htink it will ever see above that 8700rpm.
Got pics of the s2000 pump?

Good luck with that. Once you have it, you can't stop yourself from using it. 'Tis the case for me at least, even though I'm talking 7,200 or 7,300. No point in going that high anywhere but handful of turns, yet I do it and just watch my oil temp needle move with the tach.
I would love safe 9k for any day. Drove friend's S2000 once and boy was that fun.

Got the block back for final dummy mock up to establish the deck height, then it goes back for the final deck and final bore from .0005 piston to wall to .005" piston to wall. The small piston wall is to help with not having any rock on the pistons during measuring. I had the block shot peened and it turned out great.

I .also lightened the flywheel another 4 lbs. My final weight is at 8.5lbs. I figure that that will help with the extra 6 lbs the crank is. I'll take another 4 off the front pulley and end up with a fast reving stroker. I had to do this before I dropped it all off for balance.

Are you going to o-ring the block and head?

No oring. If I do any machine work it will probably be in a diamond ring format with an escape channel. The mls has been very reliable for me and I want to keep going with it. Jeffs urs4 land speed is runnng an mls with only flat surfaces. He made 956whp?
I am hoping that 12mm studs with 625 hardware will clamp it a little better.
