ShavedQuattro wrote:Yeah, and the problem of only having a 7500 rpm tach still exists. I need a 0-9000 scale that is fast. I really like the ProSport gauges, and the tach and speedometer that they offer. The tach would be a cinch to wire up, but the Speedometer wants a signal from the ECU to drive it. What the hell does that mean??

I wish I was smarter with electronics so I could figure out how to get a speedometer in my life.

Hank

Most ecu's you can input speed via an HSI into the ecu, then using gear/speed tables it will figure out your speed and you can then use an output on the ECU to trigger an electronic speedo. Or if the frequencies are the same you can run a pull up on the VSS to trigger the speedo, but if its an aftermarket speedo my guess is this woudln't work out quite right.

Tim, that tach is sick, but at 450$, I would double up the cost and take Mark's advice. I do like the small footprint though.

I need to keep my eye out for a used AiM dash. Nate had one for me form the 90, but he couldn't help himself when the a3 was taken into the stable.

Brian, That is good information. So the ProSport would not be able to be driven off just the 01e input off the 2 wire hall sensor is what your gut says? It would be awesome if I could output the Speed tables off the IIc into the Speedo!!

Hank, any GPS will tell you your speed...

Or do as Mark says...you can alway sopt for a cheaper MyChron dash by AiM. Configurable RPMs, CAN input and you can read a lot of sensors' data too.

Tim, this place has them for a hundred cheaper at 374. That makes it an attractive alternative to the other gauges I have looked at. Ideally, I want Tach, speedo, Water, Oil Pressure, Fuel pressure, AFR and Boost in the main cluster. That isn't too much to ask for right :)

It is true Peter. I don't need a lot of the logging that is included with the higher end AiM stuff. I'll go waste an hour looking at them.. brb

It might work just fine. I believe aaron has his stock sensor running a speedo(or maybe just to his ecu). Mine is wired up like stock to the cluster(b5) but then pull-up'd to the ecu. He has a diagram for how to wire it, I remember seeing his MS paint skills when i was doing my wiring.

The SPA tach/speedo is sweet. I found them for 350 new, but I really wish they had an odometer. I long to track gas mileage for some retarded reason.

FYI, the rev limiter is set at 4000. One mandatory court date down today, 2 to go. Red is a biatch.

No Triple digits or Reckless drivings. Just some bad breaks. Driving style has not changed... Never had a ticket in white.

Hi Hank, I may be able to help with the custom electronics for your tachometer issue. Contact me some time and we can discuss it.

Hank,

Bentley's gauge procedure shows it as 40 Ohms at full and 283 Ohms at empty.

Didn't have the money to keep my Audi...had to have a cheap/easy to maintain car, so I decided on the 3800 motor, and this was the absolute best choice for me. At least its quick! It would mop the floor with my CQ, manages better mileage, has more power, and can comfortably haul 4 people.

My mileage money is paying for it, so hopefully my wife will get a job soon and I can get a toy. I'd love to have an UrQ (I hate red though :P )!
