I think those are pretty nice... but I have to admit I liked the Porsche rims best...

But it all depends on the kind of look your trying to achieve.

I bring good news.
So I *almost* filled my car up with gas today and that got the gas gauge un-stuck lol. It is now functional, at least for the upper half of the gauge. That was an easy fix.
Dropping car off in the A.M. to get the AC system vac tested and then filled up with 134 as long as it passes. Its going to be WONDERFUL...again.
Then I decided to be semi-responsible and bought new head studs...yes, studs. ARP to be exact

My HG is kinda leaky and I figured I should probably take care of that sometime this summer. The best part about it is I spent $119 SHIPPED to my door and of course they are brand new. mjmautohaus is having a huge overstock sale on them. Someone added a zero to their order lol. Just thought I'd let you guys know so you could get in on the goods. Gotta mention that you saw it on the vortex though and you have to either PM them on vortex or call and say you saw it there. I've been holding off on this for a while, but jumped on it when I remembered I have monies now and should replace the HG soon.
Thats all for now. Still thinking way too much about fuel systems in my spare time lol. It'd be great to find an easy way to hook an 044 up inline with the stock 040.

looks like my AC compressor repair skills are legit! They put a vacuum on the car for 30 minutes and none leaked out, so they decided to charge it and put dye in there too. Nice and cold now.
I still have to go thru my vac lines behind the dash to see why my main vents turn off sometimes.

Wow good find on the head studs. Mine just came today and I spent about twice that :x . But ARP doesn't make them for my car so only a couple places sell modified mini cooper studs that fit.
mmmm... AC

haha damn, mini cooper studs...thats pretty interesting. I couldn't resist the head studs tho man, too good of a deal.
and ya lol drooling guy is quite appropriate for AC. I know you want it! What are you waiting for? Go get it charged up! Or find a way to pull a vacuum on it to see if there are leaks first. I'm sure you can figure something out. I bet you are putting it off so you have more money for turbo parts haha thats what I was doing.

I'm just not sure if I will be able to keep A/C with the turbo, I definitely want to try though. I almost bout a manifold gauge set and a vacuum pump from Harbor Freight a little while ago for like ~150. I'm running out of big things to buy for the turbo, so I'm quite interested in A/C. I just need to be sure I can keep it.

Hot FL sun baking down on that car is gonna dry those lines out. Might as well go and replace them with some of that uber expensive stock braided rubber lines.
It takes more time to vac check em than it does to replace them. They are pushing 20 years as well.

Chris, keep the BBS's, IMO. Those other ones don't look as nice
And jeez, when is this turbo going on?

I know Josh! When is it going on? I am frustrated as can be!
I guess I wont be getting the OZ's, but I have to tell you they are a bit nicer of a wheel. They are very classic and look awesome on lots of applications. Yes, they don't look as nice right now but they need refurbed. I'm pretty dern good at that. You should have seen the BBSs before I got to them. Plus, I need 5-spoke in my life.
Regardless, I'm either keeping the BBS's at this point (I really want to see them on the car) or reselling for profit so I can custom, baller Hank manifold it up.
Corey, I hate you for saying that...take it back!

For anyone interested in how I rebuilt the AC comp manifold, here are some pictures. Its really simple. You can get the o-rings in the HF o-ring set lol. I wouldn't be upset if they don't hold up long, but I think they will. You cant screw up rubber too badly. Yes, it'd be nicer to have Viton or something, but the big "square" gasket thing isn't available in anything but regular rubber anyway and mine looked to be in perfectly good condition. Chances are, if anything blows out that will probably be the thing that blows before the rest of the HF ones do since its probably pretty old. Seems just fine for now though. Like I said, the car held vac for 30 min the other day without dropping at all.
ew

very ew

Both sides of the manifold, just for reference

tools of the trade

Next up are pictures of why my window reg failed. It would go down, but not up and made lots of crunchy noises. That plastic thing on the end of the cable is supposed to go down inside those holes in the motor housing and allow the cable to tighten up. When its broken like mine is, that doesn't happen. I have some extra white thingies, but no way to get them off of the cable they are on and onto the one in the car. So basically next up is figuring out how to get the reg off of the window...I really don't know how to do it properly. While I figure that out, wood with zip-ties is holding my window lol.
said white thing

crappy pic of where the white thing goes

window holder

And last, but not least, we have the big ole' Lexus throttle body again. There was way too much extra shit on it, so I cut it all off. Of course, the TPS housing and throttle cam mechanism are still there. Also left one big port on it as it makes a great place for an ICV. I was going to take pics to get an idea of what it might take to fit it with a custom Hank manifold, but it got too dark out. Maybe tomorrow. It definitely wasn't going to fit without cutting stuff off, I'll tell you that for sure. I took like a half inch to 3/4 off of that part below the TPS housing. That is probably going to be the key for clearance with the head. There used to be some random vac line routing down there that had nothing to do with the air passing thru the TB :?
I can never get pics from photoshop.com to display properly here no matter how I try to do it...
http://www.photoshop.com/accounts/52d42 ... 0954bd52f1http://www.photoshop.com/accounts/52d42 ... fbaa6ef225http://www.photoshop.com/accounts/52d42 ... 2280226c05http://www.photoshop.com/accounts/52d42 ... 9e07800624oh and obviously I'm going to clean the TB up a bit. I just didn't get to it tonight. I spent about an hour with the air cutter finding ways to only cut the bits I wanted to cut. Will hit it with the grinder, then the dremel, and finally some sanding and polishing to make it perty. Then off to Hank it goes! Gotta get a TPS too. Can't forget that.
...and yes, I know I have a badass cup

Hmmm I was pretty determined to get this TB to work, but if I could get that BBK one for cheap I would use it. I'm sure Hank would appreciate having something easier to work with. I'm watching it on e-bay. Thanks

Chris, I take it back. Now that I see those OZ's, all polished up like that, I think they're pretty damn sexy. If you can make it work without setting back the Holset, go for it.
BTW, when my reg died (same one lol), I just manually cranked it to the up position and put it back in. Took some fiddling, and I forget exactly how I did it, but it might be a better solution than the wood+zipties. Then again, I'm fairly sure that plastic bit was intact on mine, so I'm not sure how that would affect doing what I did.

Ha, see the OZ's are ridiculous. They actually used to make good looking wheels back in the day.
Anyway, Josh the reason its propped up like that is because I took the cable off completely. I'm not going to waste my time putting it back on when I know it needs to come off again
