Not to discourage any dreams by any means. Just remember that 3.6 v8s make around 230whp and abz 4.2s make around 270whp on standalone and a lot of support mods, ie money. Putting turbos on one makes huge power, but that is serious money and fabrication. 90s weigh more than a suby STI and they put down around 240whp stock and 280-300 chipped, and more torque than a v8. I would recommend going and driving an sti and see if you would be happy with that sortof power forever and for always.

It is easy to make that sortof power with a 20v :) I would be hard pressed to rip a 20v out anything but a 200 :)

Its not like its a 20vt or anything. Its just a 7a and probably only the bottom end if that.

I'm not going for monster power. I'm going for pure NA V8 torque and sound. I have my 200 for monster power out of a 5 cyl. I LOVE the 20vt, but I'm not a freak about it. I don't want it in every car I own. I like variety, and I've always wanted to put a V8 in something that its not supposed to be in. I know it wouldn't be fast. I don't have high hopes for that. I envision just cruising around enjoying the sweet sounds of a European V8. Thats it :) It'd just be a car to drive if the 200 is down or something...and a way for my dad to get his V8 fix too.

The 20v from the car would be useful. Extra parts for the 200! I know this is backasswards as hell...20v in the 200 and V8 in a coupe, but I like it haha.

Speaking of V8's I've been driving my dad's Titan around a lot and man do I want to put that engine in something little! Its just fun to drive, even in the big old titan. I can't imagine it with a manual, 3000 pounds lighter, and closer to the ground. I have crazy thoughts all day, every day :D

I'm tellin' you man, I have some genius ideas. My dad is responsible for all of this. I love that all of my dream cars are attainable for under 20k and a lot of custom work. No Ferraris or Lamborghinis for me. I'll take ITB titan engine in a little nissan any day. Of course if I had unlimited money...I mean I'm sure I'd have fun with a nice lambo v12. Oh, thats a good idea. Audi/Lambo V10 in an old audi!!! :O haha oh the dreams

Oh man me too. My buddy Trent and I sit around all the time thinking of bad ass combos like that. Oh what I wouldn't throw an LS9 in... hell maybe an LS9 with the 4ws/awd system out of the denali trucks into a nice little colorado or maybe or better yet... say maybe an awd/4ws camaro. :bashtard:

Chris, what does the 7A need to run? The PT makes 255hp stock, at the crank. The ABH makes 280hp at the crank. The ABZ makes 300hp at the crank. Ironically enough, the one that makes the most power will be the easiest to swap, as 034 makes engine mount brackets for it. Any of them though, will likely be easier to swap if you run SEM. The ABZ has a 60-2 ring on the flex plate (however you can use the FP on the other two older V8s), runs coil packs, etc. The two older V8's actually may not fit in a B3 w/out converting to individual coils due to driver side distributor interference with the brake assembly (already have to ditch ABS).

But they all bolt up to the 01A just fine...

Interesting...thanks for the info! I'll have to make a separate project thread for it once I get it. Then we can really get talkin. It'd just be about finding the proper motor then. ABZ certainly does sound like the best idea. Would be sweet to just make it breath nicely (intake and exhaust) and a nice set of cams. I'm sure all of that is nice and pricey though. I like to plan in advance ;)

I have NO idea what the 7a or the car itself needs to run. We'll see when I get my hands on it. I'm not concerned with it though.

I thought you were going on a road trip...

Now you want to buy a 90Q?

He wants a project AND roadtrip prior to putting a holset on his 200... Sucka!

hahaha yeah the roadtrip might fall through for me now because TWO of the people don't think a 5th is a good idea. My buddies are pulling for me to come, but it doesn't look good.

On the bright side, I got pretty decent grades. They just came out last night. There was one class I was just worried about passing and I ended up with a B! The last test was 40% of the grade. Its advanced engineering mathematics. Its the type of stuff that noone really understood the entire way through the course, but still managed to know enough about it to pull off some sort of a passing grade. 40% of your grade on stuff that you really don't have any clue what you are talking about on is really scary! So I'm happy that I passed everything its nice to not have any D's or anything either. I was worried there for a minute.

Anyway, the project is cheaper than getting the Holset on lol. If I stay here, the Holset is going on ASAP. Just waiting on that manifold like I said!

You are dreaming.

Good job on the grades. I hate classes like that... feel like poop coming home from finals, only to wait.

I didn't mean the project as a whole haha sorry I meant obtaining the project car itself is cheaper.

oh, I see. You are just trying to get rid of 200 funds for something you dont need right? :)

Ask them how many run? Two daily's, one that needs fixed, one that needs finished, two that need hauled off, plus an Astro and a 5k that doesn't belong to me. Five of those are parked at my house...Cue the music!

I need to spend some money on the AC in this thing. Right now I kinda want to focus on the AC. Its unbearable...especially if I can make the trip to carlisle...it would be awesome if I could just get the AC working before then.

AC used to work, one day it just quit. Comp comes on if I short the low pressure switch. System definitely doesn't have anything in it as I replaced the orifice tube the other day and nothing came out at all. The old tube was dirty, but didn't seem clogged. I'm sure the car has a slow leak, but I'm not worried about that for now. I just want to get it to take a charge.

Last time I hooked up the AC stuff to the car it just wouldn't take a charge. Not sure why. Any ideas as to why that may be? Maybe clogged in the compressor?

I have done a few ac system back in highschool during an internship at a local shop. There are a few small screens (filters) that the refrigerant gets filtered through and I wouldn't be suprised if one of those are clogged. If you have ever used the "do it yourself" Ac shiz that is what probibly did the trick. Especially if it had the anti leak agents or anything like that.

The most important thing with AC systems is good seals (installed with a bit of Ester oil on them) and good clean compressor Ester oil. Oh and of course good R134 or if you want to spend big R12. Of course after you install new seals it schould be evauated and vacume checked. That stuff off the shelf just doesn't do the trick for very long and leads to more damage than good. And the less refrigerant that is replaced with dyes/anti leak and what ever else they put in those cans will reduce your ac stength.

edit: Oh and if you have been using the stuff with the ester/anti leak in all one can, your system is probibly full of that and not refrigerant. That is a very strong possiblity of why it's not taking a change. Do you have a set of gauges you can check the high side and low side with??

Also all that crap that they put in the all in one cans have been known to screw up the sensors and all that crap. SO it is possible that your lps is toast. And if your prepared to empty the system the legal way :D there should be an in tube filter at the low side or the high side of the compressor.

I haven't been able to put any in. My buddy has the gauges and a whole thing of 134 and we couldn't get it to take anything. Seems like an obvious clog of some sort.

It wont even take any even with the LPS shorted and the compressor spinning and all of that. The problem isn't the LPS thats for sure.

I have the same exact problem with mine... I'm watching this closely
