Well Sean I tried to slide the coilover sleeves off today and now remember that I put them on with silicone. I don't think they are coming off........well just kidding since I know you would still be able to order another set in time. I'm sure you can still use them.

I ran across a snag just now being stupid. I knew I had to have an early head with the round water passage or fix my original head. I'm not sure why I thought that the 20vt head gasket was going to work with the oblong water passage hole in it. :tard:
I wasn't ready to install yet, but I knew that I had a rebuilt MC wrapped in plastic that had never had the head torqued down, but was just sitting on a set of ARP head bolts and a 20vt MLS gasket. I dug to get at it, but pulled it apart to get to the gasket and studs. It was then I realized that I needed a different head gasket. I love this going back 20vt again as I keep finding parts to use that otherwise would just sit. ARPs here we go.

Another possible roadblock is that I think that I need an exhaust. I don't need anything special just something. What have you guys that are running pretty much stock like this Urq will be running for exhaust and where is the best place to buy? Here is what I have to work with. The 3" and cat looks to be usable, but the center section and rear muffler need help.

Throw your thoughts my way. They are needed.

Cut those out and get something like a Dynomax Ultraflow to fit in each spot...

Summit carries them, so you can at least match that way. Those are both 3" in/out?

Try this link...should be 3" single in/out, steel and stainless shells.

Perfect excuse for Tartan Motorsport 3" OEM look.
Craig can fill you is all the details.

Or I have a very nice OEM rear muffler that is available if you want something stock.
Mid muffler you can reskin with SS or cut it out and weld in a stright pipe.

If you want an OEM looking 3" then Craig Cook is your man (Highlander).
Check out his project page for the '84 and it's all in there.

Hope this helps.

Yea Eric I was looking at Summitt after I posted and it looks like I may be able to find something there. It is a 3" in and out on the center and 3" in and double 2.5" out on the rear.

Martin is the Tartan Craigs exhaust?

Sean I would love your Stebro, but will you be replaced by Oct. I think that the Tartan is Craig's exhaust that is on his clean 84 and it's his design if I'm not mistaken, but I don't know how long it would take to ship across the country from Canada.

Probably along with myself. I stayed up late last night working in the garage, went to bed about 2am and got a phone call from work at 6am wondering if I was coming to work or not. It seems that I must have said yes to the schedule a few weeks ago and forgot. Not good!! I guess you will have to visit Sean on your own. Sorry

Martin thanks for mentioning my system.

John,

If your in a hurry for a exhaust, and want a 3" system, then for now, sorry I can't help you.
I currently don't have any made up, and I'm really busy at the moment.

If there is some demand, then I can get the jigs out and make some.

Good luck

Craig, I will keep you in mind as I want to go 3" eventually, but to get it on the road within the next 3 weeks I'll settle for about anything.

Yea, I think that I found something at Summit that will work for the rear and either reskin or straight pipe through the center. Thanks

Not much happening on Her Urq. I've been waiting for a head gasket to get here so I can start to put it back together. I haven't had a lot of time either, but did manage to clean up a few more parts. I wanted to get the rust and crap off of the exhaust manifold to make sure that it didn't have any hairline cracks. I think I finely got dealt a good card....exhaust looks to be perfect!!

I also cleaned up the intercooler along with the exhaust manifold and dump valve.

I'm hoping for a little cooler weather so that I can get the fender and core support painted. It was 105deg today. :(

John - Just weld in a straight pipe for the center section - I definitely would not run a center resonator - really wakes up the sound of the 20v. And the 20V for that matter...

For the rear - yah sorry no recomendation other than see if you can pick up a nice used rear section or have a local shop re-do your muffler.
