Wish I hadn't missed it. Come help me remove an engine sometime.

Nice numbers Hank. It looks to me that you were starting to drop off on HP at the top end. You sure it would keep making power to 8.5k? Either way if you still had fuel to cut back and timing to add, I'd say ~500whp is pretty impressive. Nice Saturday morning. That was done on a Mustang at 6k elevation right? Is that adjusted WHP?

That thing should definitely keep making power. Thats gotta be due to something else (like foot off the gas a bit or soft limiter or something

The 2nd pull, we pulled to 8200, and it had the same little drop off at the end. That is just the operator letting up slightly. The logs reflect that as well, as it is not 100%WOT to 0%WOT in the next cell. It is more like 70,45,20,0% TPS. I think this turbo is just getting started. I am sure I left around 50-75whp on the table in fuel and timing advances. I intend on breaking the awd record my next outing after doing some more road tuning and then take advantage of the dyno.
Yes Dad, this is a corrected number. The corrected number seemed to be about 11% higher than the uncorrected. I don't really like using corrected numbers, as that is not an indication of how fast my car is in utah, but rather at sea level. It is nice for comparing though. When 440hp rs4's only make 299.4whp, and stock sti's make 225-235whp(300 crank), it is easy to feel better about making 518whp. If we use the same drivetrain loss from these other two cars, this is about a 750 crank motor.
I only had time to make 4 passes, and I had to beg for the last pull. Each pull, I took out fuel, and added 2 degrees of timing across the board. Each time EGT's dropped, and we made ~20whp more each pull. We only stopped due to scheduling, as others were patiently waiting. There were about 2 dozen video taking devices on scene. hopefully one surfaces soon.

Heart breaker is right! i'll be back with more tuning...
Let plan on hitting it again in about a month before the last wintercross at millers.

Sounds great!
Looks like that dyno sheet shows the operator lifting at 7Kish.

Thats funny you picked that up. I was just looking over logs in the tub(what?? I enjoy a good soak) and noticed the same thing. Those two videos above lift at 7200, but my last run shows 7050. I am not sure why he decided the party was over then. At 85% DC, it was probably for the better anyway.
Looking back at the logs, I wish I would have had more than 30 minutes. I my first run corrected was my 4th run uncorrected. I have a ton more timing above 6k to be had.

How are your IATs? Those fans aren't very close to the front of the car.

Great job Hank. What does that lower curve read for air/fuel? Keep up the good work.

Just a reference, most of the strong Stg 3 B5 S4s around here dyno between ~370-400whp, but that number depends heavily on the quality of tune and intercoolers, downpipes, meth, etc. Those numbers sound about right for a B7 RS4, depending on the level of carbon buildup. I have a dyno sheet at work of one turning 235whp, LOL.
Nice numbers though, hot damn.

IAT's start at 16C and move to 36C. My intercooler sucks. I think it is weak link atm. I may weld up some stands for their dyno and drop them off. It would be nice to be able to put those fans in the perfect spot on different cars. On this day, they were just pointed in the general direction..
Hap, I have no idea the reference for the a/f. The dyno just opened in the last few months. I really like the ownrs and operators, but they still have some learning to do... Just say the a/f was all wacked out, and I need to spend some quality time adjusting a/f. More power will no doubt come then.
Sam. What do stock Sti's run up there?

how cold was out side 36C 97F is not a bad for a air to air ic

outside temp was about 40 degrees F, or about 5C.
Thanks Peter.

Yes than your ic needs to upgraded, can even imagine where the IT be in a nice 90F dyno room

Hey Hank
How big/small is your I/C? Mine is 10.5"x4"x24" and is sprayed with an NOS nitrous serpentine spray bar. I've got 2 ways to spray using the purge function or WOT with a 3 position switch. The IATs on the 755hp pull were 2-3 degrees below ambient. The warmer it gets, the lower the IATs are below ambient.
Hap, with some kind of IATs not from Evahboost but someplace cool, Maguire

Can a guy calculate his target A/F ratio's based on the measured ethenol content without having a whole dyno room full of birds making fun of him !! Heckle here, heckle there. Shhhheshhh..
Hap, the IC is tiny. 2.25x11 tall and about 25 across of SA. The only thing this cheap IC has going for it is it's great flow due to know real heat transfer fins in the internal flow. I moved the engine back about an inch, and that extra room will let me put in a proper 3" core. In the winter, it isn't a big deal, but the summer is almost impossible to get a good cool charge. Heat soak happens really quickly.

Knowing that I've been in a 500whp car makes me happy. The underpass on 114th South will never be the same. It's Iroz lore now.

I hate to break your spirits, but that ride was probably more like 400whp. It was 460whp when we started, and it felt faster than our little meet up a few months back. Perhaps we should run on 114th once more.
