Jamo look at the dyno plot above - that isn't even with the QSV all the way open, just opening too early (blue line). HUGE difference. The difference could be so large because the hotside is too large in the first place, but we are going to do some water/meth tuning and decide from there whether a hotside housing swap is needed.

definitely works from what I have seen on this car. See the overlaid graphs from a page or two back.

Finally just got in the car to get a timing table. This is where we're at now, so I think some work can be done

Once water/meth is in (should be arriving Friday) we'll head back to the dyno with Brady. Of course it's not the same day/weather, but at least it's the same dyno/operator. Not starting to tune at 2:00AM should help, haha.

I would think so, but hey... never know. All I could say before the first dyno session was, "All I hope is that it makes over 300whp" LOL
500whp would be awesome. I think at that point, the build would be "done" but who knows. The car is a blast to drive the way it is now, and we know it's mega-safe tuning wise, so it's fun to thrash

Whats ur clutch rated at?
Re: Pops' 1997 S6 2.5L Stroker - 407whp/390wtq @28psi *VIDEO
Well it's the South Bend Stage 4 Extreme Street... so around 550ft/lb I guess.
It has been cryo treated as well. AND there haven't been/won't be any abusive 5krpm clutch-dropping launches, so I don't think it'll be an issue. But ya never know...

So that was 407whp at 26psi, then.
Edit: which is weird, because we have overboost fuelcut at 306kpa, which happened on the way home from time to time. 306kpa is just about 30psi. Is something not reading right? Or just reading high for safety?

Yeah, I'm not sure. There is about a 0.5psi difference between the VEMS log of my final pull vs the MAP sensor on the dyno (dyno reads .5psi lower). It seemed like others were making higher boost on the street as well, I think the 930 overboosted as soon as it got off the dyno. Closed loop boost control should prevent that from happening, once you set that up. I have not taken any logs on the street since the dyno, but my boost gauge shows around 29psi

After looking at the data some more, I'm not sure if Brady sent the final log data? I see 380wtq/407whp @ 26psi in the log I sent you. Which is the same as the graph he posted. Regardless, these numbers will be irrelevant once you get back on the rollers
When you guys going up to MTL?

Well W/M has arrived, just need to install. From what I can tell it seems pretty easy to put in, a couple hours max. Just have to figure out which nozzle size to use. But I would say within a month. Probably near the end of Sept at the latest.

Nice - yeah it's a real easy install. Not sure on nozzle sizes...
Are you using the stock washer res ? That's the easiest way to do it, huge capacity and it already has a low level sender. One thing to consider is installing a notification LED somewhere in the interior so you can confirm when it is spraying.

We picked up the AEM kit (linkypoo) which has a sweet little boost-based controller, 1gallon tank (trunk?), and LED spray/low warning light. It also has some "Boost Safe" thing, which effectively puts the car into a safe mode before it runs completely out of fluid. Not sure exactly how it works or what the safe mode is, but it seems like a nice kit in general. I also just checked their Install PDF on the site, and it looks like we'll be using the biggest nozzle that comes with the kit, which is 550cc/min, or for 350-600hp.

Nice, but you don't need the controller...VEMS is your controller. You can set it up to spray however you want, based on RPM, kPa, TPS, or any combination of the three.
And yeah I would just tap into the bottom of the stock washer fluid reservoir, it has good capacity and will notify you on the autocheck when your boost juice is low
Plus it will make the install easier. That is what I will be doing if I end up changing exhaust manifolds which would reposition everything and require a move of my meth reservoir.
The "BoostSafe" looks like a pretty nice safety system. I think the best way to set it up would be to send the ground signal from the unit to a VEMS aux input channel for map select...just set up Map B to be a low boost/safety map.

You can still use the controller. Just set it to come on as hard as it can as soon as it can, then let VEMS meter it. Also, if you don't use the controller, you don't have the Boostsafe

I was looking at that AEM kit a while ago, too. Looks quite good and maybe better than say the SnowPerf Stg3 kit.
Cheaper, too.
If tapping into the UrS washer tank, where to tap in? I have a spare tank and was looking at it yesterday. Is the bottom of the tank accessible while mounted in the car? It seems as if the bottom access is blocked by the stock SMIC.
How about drilling a hole in the top of the tank and running a hose down to the near bottom?
I have been thinking to just run straight water for the cooling effect. AITs shoot up quite fast here in in this climate.
I don't want to mess with timing. I have the 034 Stg 1 chip set.

You should be making a bunch more power lower in the band.
Neil P's stroker S6 in Cranberry,PA crosses the 270lbft mark at 3500 rpm and peaks 419lbft at about 4450rpm. That's on a 30R without a QSV using an EPL tuned factory ECU and limited to 24psi peak. In perspective you're showing everything happening 1000 rpm later with a setup thats not far from Neil's and you have the benefit of a QSV and VEMS.
Admittedly Neils car was tuned at sea level in an early CT spring but the point is you should be spooling much earlier with the QSV. I'd expect you to be spooling slightly earlier than Neil. I know you have a lot of tuning to go so lets see whats really possible on your setup. I wanna see a real under peak tq band dammit. :-)

First, I believe Neil's car is a 3071 - at least that is what he has told me on multiple occasions, one of which was at SFest a few weeks ago (maybe he is mistaken?). Second, Marcel's turbo is way, WAY larger, not even close...it is bigger than a 35R.
Given the size of that turbo the spool is impressive as-is.

I built Neil's car, its a 30R. http://motorgeek.com/viewtopic.php?f=6& ... =red+baron
Perhaps I missed something but I could have sworn I read earlier in the thread that this turbo was pretty close to a 30R in spool capability.

Ah, OK...ha, that's not surprising Neil wasn't sure which turbo he had...he's not a real technical, gear-head type! What was peak hp on his motor? He was talking about installing VEMS soon too.
Anyways, Marcel's turbo is a CT3-6465...that's like 37R sized I think?? Comp rates it at 810hp. So yeah, a *bit* bigger

He may be confusing 3071 and 3076. What surprises me is why Neil would want VEMS. The entire reason for the EPL tune was because Neil doesn't have the technical skills to do his own tuning and then maintain the car long term.... Anyway, enough thread jacking.
Nice build on this one so far, I'm very interested in the QSV since I'm leaning that way for my Supra build.
