I asked for forgiveness for the carnage that was about to unfold and then got down to business. Still some good parts on it. Parking brake still worked flawlesly. When I saw a factory fog lamp switch on the cluster trim my face lit up and I ran to the front only to be disappointed.

I wish I knew where to get clean 4kq's. Derek apparently hasn't shared the secret source of his 4kq goodness!

That's interesting. The idea is that it's removable, relatively easy?
This film should win an Oscar, best co-star actor Dan, best lead actor Audi 4kq 4.2, and best supporting actor Derek.

LMAO Cory! Makes me happy to see how much you like that video. There are more, and better ones to come. I've got this thing goin up to 7k RPM already. Once it's as street-legal as I can make it i'll go and get some high rpm gear-rowing footage for you (and everyone else) to enjoy.
@ Petar. Yep, and Yep. I had to slide it into my flex pipe since the 3" section of aluminum tube after the flex pipe wasnt long enough for it to slide all the way in. It was acually a nice snug fit too. First sound check revealed that it's still too loud, but the insert comes with two weld on discs that look to me like freeze plugs for a domestic engine. One already has a hole drilled into it and the other is undrilled. The idea is that you can tack weld the caps onto the front end of the insert to quiet it down more. Start with the pre-drilled one and if it's not to your liking you can put the solid one on instead or drill it to your liking.

Heres what it sounds like with the insert installed. It's still too loud so i'm gonna pop it out and weld on one of the caps and see what that does. BTW, thats the neighbors stupid dogs yipping, they need to be run over.
OK, so what i did now is remove the insert and weld on the front cap that they call the "restrictor" and throw it back in. It's a bit quiter and more rumbly/less perky. There is even another cap i could weld on for maximum effect but I think this will work for now. Heres a video for comparison with the one above. Even in the videos you can hear the difference...

I do not hear a dog, not even a rat if you want to call it that. All I hear is fear.
"Thorny: You smell something, Rabbit? Rabbit: *sniff sniff* ... Fear."

Cory, tomorrow i'm gonna do my best to make you a vid you can really enjoy with a big screen, surround sound, and popcorn  I'm talkin 1080P and 7000RPM I'm also gonna see if I can find my lisence plate for the back of my car to make it street-legal-ish.
Ben, the torch has been passed to you. It's now your turn to dazzle us with fantastic exhaust noises.
Derek, It was a good choice. Now I just need to install a circuit breaker at the battery so I dont have any catostrophic melt downs.

There's a beverage of your choice waiting for you in May at Carlisle. Time for a road trip with the family.

Does it come with commentary like Allan McNish's lap around LeMans?

Corey, the cars exhaust will be doing all the commentary. It's hard to talk into a camera mounted on the back of the car.
Ben, you can have as many months as you need, but be warned that i'm gonna start asking if its done yet after only a couple days.

It seems to be MIA. And more bad news...The trans in my GLI is crapping out on me. Started making a bad clicking noise on deceleration. Turns out its coming from the diff. The ring gear must be coming off of the carrier. Stupid rivets, why couldn't they have used bolts like every normal car maker?

Um, do to the circumstances of the previously mentioned engine swap on this vehicle california says GITFO of california, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars, do not pass smog, and do not get registration. So for me to get a temp i would have to drive approximately 300 miles to go to the correct DMV for said temp. In which case I apparently need replacement plates since I have lost mine. But dont worry, I got scooby-doo on the case and it should be handled in a couple weeks. I could deal with the DD part though, i'm only 6 minutes/4 miles from my work so even with high gas prices i should be fine if i can keep my foot out of the floor which is not possible for me.
