Man... :( that blows goats. Did you figure out why the belt broke yet?
Not yet. Havent reall delt with it. Looks like yours only shredded and snapped
Poop. Ya, mine was definitely a cover bolt that came loose. Hopefully that's all yours was, not that, that helps you now. :(

However some good news, all lifters and valves return to normal rest position. Crank still hits valves when you rotate cam and crank wrongly. Im guessing I got away EXTREMELY lucky. Dave, thabks for the tip about checking the lifter positions. None were at full lift when I pulled the cover

Why not just toss a belt on now and see? If bad, then tear into it (cam as well).

Don't do the cam yet. Can almost guarantee you bent valves. Doing the cam is a waste of time if you have to pull the head

This was probably one of the most screwed up weekends I know of. First, I forget my laptop at school or I left it on the ground and drove off. Wont know till tomorrow. Then we went to the yard yesterday to pull my small block 360 for the Dodge and a manual transmission for my buddys conversion. The only thing that went smoothly was the engine. I ripped that thing out, tore it down to the shortblock, and threw it into the back of the service rig in under 45 minutes, by myself. Then shit started going downhill. The transmission took 3-4 god forsaken hours all because of 2 stupid ass bolts. So that drained us of energy. Then on the way home, we stopped to eat. As we were backing out the service rig decides to just die for no reason. Pop the hood, starter fluid, nothing bot even a sputter. Now the battery is dead. I dont have my jumpers and we still dont know what is wrong. So I can my bro 30 mins away to come jump us. My buddy and I tear thr coil out and low and behold a shorted out wire. $22 later and a short walk across the street with a new coil, we throw it in. Now we wait. Brother shows up, jump it, it fires (thank god). Then I get home, grab car and go to store. Leave store, car dies. WTF. Tow to storage unit. Get chewed out by manager for being there past 9 (it was 9:30). Left car there. Came back this morning, grabbed the dodge and pushed the Audi into storage. Tore it down and found a bolt that came out of nowhere. I have no god forsaken idea where the hell it came from.
On the bright side I got my small block V8

Yeah, I guess real wood is getting hard to find in some areas!
Did you ever figure out what the bolt was from? Looked to be a pretty big bolt to be in the timing cover.

dude, its worth a try with the new belt, but odds are your valves are boned. Good news is 20v heads are cheap and you should be able to to the swap in a day.

hey, your welcome. but as everybody has already stated, the proof is in the pudding. throw a belt on it and cross your fingers. its possible your good but not out of the question that you kissed a valve or two and they are just barely bent. But bent is bent. everybodys got their fingers crossed. hope all is good.

Looks like bent valves on 1 cylinder. It sounds like a bent intake valve

From what I can tell right now with the cam off, bent #1 exhaust and #2 intake
