This one was shot about 2 minutes before that first one. The sky changes so fast when sunsets are like that... all of those were shot within 5

Awesome pictures Hank. I agree on the first picture being the best and I want a ride in that car again. The S6 should be done tomorrow after nearly 3 weeks of torture. Then I have to behave for the next week or so to break it in. I'll let you know how it turns out.

8) It does look like the sky must be over Mordor or somewhere close!! Hank's car being referred to as Lord of the Rings would also fit.

<while wiping blood off trace marks on forearms> Well, I just got back from Miller's.. Road course racing is addicting!!
Every second Wends of the month, for 25 bucks they let you run the track staged 15 seconds off each car for a lap. The event dubbed "wide open Wednesday". They set up cones to keep the speeds down in the straights, but htey are more like gates to help noobs like myself from butchering apexes. I have been meaning to go, but today it came together. It was quite fun. Some serious hardware out there!!!!! I got 8 laps in or about 15-20 minutes of seat time. Not bad for 25 dollars!
No pictures, but next month I'll get somebody to snap some. People came up to me in the pits and asked how fast I was going down the main, and gave me thumbs up. One guy even gave me the "raise the roof" gesture. Man was I glad to see that gesture die in the 90s. Everybody appreciated smoke filled take offs from the start line, and tail out action coming out of the 2 visible turns from the pit stands!! THere were about 5 brand new Z06's out there today, and I asked a couple of them their speed's down the two straights, and I was easily faster then they were in those two spots.
All in all a good trip. The car held together great, minus a thrown alternator belt!!! I need to convert over to a freaking serp setup.

Were you running the full track? Even at half track it would be a lot of fun. What is the track.....something like 3 or 4 miles long? How did the brakes hold up? I'm glad to see you got out there and was able to run without worrying about a siren and lights chasing you.

The west track and I think I heard somebody say it was 2.2 miles long. All this time I was thinking the half tracks would be lame as to a lack of straights, but with an honest 450whp and a 2600 pound car, it was fast enough for me. I need to get some more seat time on the short tracks before I tackle some of the straights millers has to offer. I only got bent out of shape once coming off a straight in fourth at about 120, slowing for some cones and braking too late and having the rear end come around on me. It was easily corrected, but did send me sideways and towards the gravel at an alarming rate. Pucker rate was high, and I thought immediately that I need to paint this car with the track in mind!

Perhaps a color that hides chips well!
A wetsanded driveshaft would have paid a hefty price with that off course trip!

On the paint talk, I did apply some paint stripper to the fender to see how the paint would come off. IT came off really easily, and I am trying to get motivated to get it painted before vegas. I am thinking just bright white like Sean's Cayman... I have grown to love the white..

That's awesome Hank.... I want to go out to a track day really badly with the S6, but I still don't have the brakes for it yet.... all in good time I suppose.

Sam, I bet you have lost at least 25 pounds since you started working at 034. Brakes are way more important than food.
Dad, the Brakes held up great, but one lap really was not enough time to know how they would do on a full 15 minute session of lap after lap. My fluid's stayed very reasonable though at around 160F for oil and 180-195F for coolant. I need to duct both of them to get a bit better efficiency out of the setup. The event was especially brutal on temps though, as you would run a lap, heat eveyrthing up and then have to sit in the pit's staged for 10 minutes waiting for your next lap. IE, there was no airflow in the pits... I think lapping I would have not had any problems. In normal fashion, I drove the car pretty hard from 4500-8500 everywhere and holding 2nd and 3rd to redline almost everywhere.
After next month, they start holding them twice a month and dub it winter driving. I guess the STI and Evo's come out a lot for those events. Good thing you will have a place in downtown SLC soon!! if you only had a garage/spot to store an URQ, you could be 25 minutes away from the track on vacation!! Oh well, maybe you can take the train

Just do it right now in place as if you were in the act of giving somebody praise and express how you feel inside.

Damn Hank.... that really sucks. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know. I have a spare 01E in NJ that needs a new center diff, but I am not sure how that helps you. :-)
