Went to the track today to watch my uncle get some instructional driving time...I took a pic or two of mine when I was there and I think the front has already settled a bit. Looks nicer now

Thanks guys for all of the love...its definitely quite gratifying.
Nuugen, I'm definitely glad I followed your suggestion to go with the Bilsteins. They really are great. No, we didn't do the Igor mod because I left the template at home and we didn't have internet at the shop. I would only be doing it for the sake of tire wear...and supposedly its toe that wears tires so I think I'm just going to get an alignment all the way around and see how they wear. If its too bad, then I'll pull the effers out and do the Igor I suppose. I just really hate doing the fronts on this car so much lol.
Front will definitely be coming down for Fixxfest even if I do have to be careful on the way. I could rock it daily, but it would be a pain and I'd be a little scared all the time. I probably wont do the downpipe until I get the Holset on just because it makes more sense to modify it all one time. I dont think the ebay cast mani changes the turbo position too much does it?
Anyway, just one question...what do you guys with coils do for alignments? AKA seems like every time you adjust height you need one. Is that the case? That sucks if so...I'd like to be able to go up and down from time to time without getting one.

looks great.
I thought the tires wear because of too much camber, hence the igor mod to get more adjustment. you can also supposedly slot the bolt holes a bit, but thats sorta hack IMO... but someone I know does that on their race porsches, so... I dunno.
your toe will probably be off though because the angle of the tie rods has changed.

for alignments I go to NTB. The quality is obviously going to depend on the techs from location to location but the ones at my local NTB are excellent. Plus NTB has this sweet deal where for around $200 IIRC you get a 3 yr warranty on the alignment and can come back in at any time within the 3 years for as many free alignments as you want...
Not wanting to be an ass about it I usually tip the guy that does my alignments, I've always been satisfied with the results, and they let you hang out in the service bay while they are working on the car which is nice.

Hmmm I dont think I've ever seen an NTB around here.
But yeah...I've heard on a few occasions that people think that neg camber is the reason for tire wear when really its the toe (maybe as a result of the camber) that does it. Someone I really trust with all things cars and racing has told me this and I also read it here on motorgeek just the other day when I was searching thru some threads on the Igor mod.

definitely agree, toe is the ultimate tire killer. Personally my favorite alignment mod is to push as much positive caster up front as possible. I put 2B plates on my wagon so I could get more, about +2 degrees. does wonders for handling IMO.

Awesome, thats a good thing to hear from you Marc, as I know many on here trust your opinion.
Maybe Ill make some plates of my own at some point.
Either way, the car just handles the road so much better than stock that I'm overjoyed with it at this point.
And before I forget, the VEMS should be here within a week or so thanks to Marc. Hopefully she does well this time! I just cant wait to have my power and rev limit back

Wow!!! Your car looks great Chris!! Nice work, I really love the staggered wheels, and height looks golden at the track!
Why did I buy these H&R's :frustrated: :-D

Thanks

Show is this weekend. I'm just excited to get the car out there.
ECU should be done soon.
Just have a few points/questions to bring up.
1) Kuma was nice enough to offer his stock hitch up to me from his 200 20v. Will it fit the 20v?
2) Next big thing to think about is transmission. I'd like some advice on what route to take here.
My main priority is strength...not concerned about speed of shifts (dog engagement)...just want the tranny to stay together when I try to put power down. From what it sounds like (as already discussed here) 01E is my friend. I think a cryo'ed one would suit my needs pretty well.
SO, unless anyone has any other suggestions, I'd like to try and compile a list of parts I need and stuff I need to make/do to fit an 01E and possible precautions to take as far as strength is concerned. This includes driveshaft, axles, etc...I want something thats QUITE sturdy.
One thing I'm not concerned about is the clutch. Southbend has never failed me!
Ok...
GO!
TIA :-)

Step one...Run 016 TorSen until you break it
Step two...Run 01E wide-first until you break it
Step three...Run a modified 01E wide-first

lol OK sounds good.
I still need infos for fitting wide first 01E
I'd like to put together a thread showing exactly what you need to do it with just like the DIY T44 coilover page I made.

That would be sweet!! btw Chris I saw this add on vwvortex and it made me think of yours, you probably have seen it, but I think it would be sweet if you did the fender paint to your car. Although it might be a little over the top for what you have for the sleeper look you have so far

damn, looks like its already sold...I want his roof rack in a bad way.
And yes! I have seen a pic or two of that car and I LOVE it in every way. I would definitely rock those stripes if it was in a removable form and I could re-apply whenever I choose

Anyway, I'm also really interested in the front splitter he's got. I think it makes the front look so much more aggressive. I know derrish_vulf made the one that was on his 100.
Again, if anyone knows of where I could get a roof rack like that with the air thingy in the front PLEASE let me know.

Do you have a part number for one that fits? I would be so down to get one.
