Soon alex....SOOOON
Seriously....FUCK this car!!! I spent 3.5 hours tonight changing the oil, swapping on the snow tires/wheels, and 1 mother fucking shock. Everything fought me. E V E R Y T H I N G
Oh, but I did find the powersteering leak. A FORMER OWNER (UH HEM) didn't tighten a hose clamp all the way
Got the passenger side shock done tonight and discovered that my fucking tie-rod nuts came loose. Good thing I was planning on doing an alignment anyways.
even my 4000 isnt this much of a bitch to work on

Isn't that how it works? That's how it normally is when I get to work on my Audi.

Is it wrong that I honestly expected the shock replacement to be easier vs the 4kq? Hell the only difference is 3 damn bolts on top!! Getting the sway bar back into the CA was an ABSOLUTE PITA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, that how I broke the floor in my 200 avant. Pry bar slipped off, and away went the floor!

I agree the front suspension will give you a run for your $, but the rears make up for it....congrats on finding the power steering leak.

Audi designed it not to be easy. Keep your cool, take your time and breaks if needed then spend the money you saved on labor to buy parts for another vehicle and do it all over again!
Full circle suffering

yea, fuck those t44 front swaybar/leading arm things. I usually enlist the help of multiple beers, a 10,000lb ratchet strap and copious amounts of curse words to get those thing back into the bushing.

They're a pain, but they're not impossible. Maybe I've done it too many times? I can usually get it pretty quick.
Come on master mechanic. get it done.

Got the driver shock done tonight, holy shit what a difference in how smooth it went vs last night and the passenger! Got the exhaust all buttoned up PROPERLY with stainless steel bolts, stainless steel lock washers, and some nice new copper nuts.
Got on the alignment machine and discovered that the rear wheels/tires were 1.0* off on the camber both sides. I'll post the picture of the alignment sheet tomorrow. Gotta love thermo inductors where using a torch to heat stuff up would be a big no no. So now the rear is in proper alignment and won't chew up the outside edges anymore. Got the front end all buttoned up and properly secured this time.
All that is left to do is replace both the inner and outer boot on the passenger axle....then...DOOOOOR LIGHTS!!!!

I'm officially keeping my eyes out for a cheap 5.7L hemi block. I figure if I can get my hands on one for less than $500, it'll be a good cheap way to start building an adapter plate for when I ultimately do the engine swap

Need a front driver ABS sensor and cable. Broke it while doing the shock as it was seized in there.

The sensor and the connector are correct for the car, but the length of the lead is super long (so what). They also do not have all the little hold it in place rubber things. BUT they work and fit perfect and are super cheap (comapred to OEM).
http://www.alliancebrandparts.com/Sp...e&service=true There are currently two dealers that have it on special cost per sensor $40.71.
Yep, the R955341 sensor kit is a WABCO 449 032 814 0 sensor with a 1.8 Meter lead. A WABCO sensor with a1M lead is 449 032 809 0 (kit part R955336 and the shorty (about 1 foot) is a 449 032 808 0 (kit R955335) These two kits a very common semi-trailer parts and are easily obtainable an any trailer parts place. Fleet Pride or Traction Auto are nation-wide. Also any Great Dane Trailer service center, Utility Trailer dealer or service center, Wabash Trailer parts & Service, Aurora trailer parts center will have them. Other trailer service parts places too such as those servicing Timpte, Wilson, East, Fontaine etc.
ALL of the above sensor bodies are identical only the wire length is different.

So thanks to the donor 200 car, I now have a set of front manual axles, a pedal assembly, all the clutch hydraulics, trans tunnel, and shift linkage. All that is left to get is the 200 20v trans out of my buddy's car, and a nice Southbend Clutch (stage II OSE I think)
