Haha you should have just done it and earned a little money! You'd be teaching the younger generation a thing or two about how you're really supposed to drive a car too (stick).

My mechanic couldn't find the fill plug... got sent away hah. It's on the passenger side near, but above the axle I suspect. Sound right?

Going with some very good advice via Chris, I managed to modify my timing table VERY effectively in accordance with my use of 93 and w/m. During a conservative map test yesterday, I literally felt like the car would get so fast that parts would just start detaching lol. I've never been in such a quick car. I don't even want my brother to know that his chipped m3 feels down right boring AHHHHHHHHHH!! I changed the map even further last night to prepare it for upload today. I shifted the numbers left a spot as a whole last night. Hope it holds together lol. Thanks for your help Chris :)

Haha no problem. Sounds like the car responded to it favorably, so that tells me you went in the right direction. Congrats! Now make some knock phones and listen. Also, (and before you even do that) get a fresh set of plugs, do a long third gear pull on them, then pull them out and inspect /take pics and post them. That'll also help make sure you're safe.

I'm unsure if I understood the moving left concept :/
I took the timing # from the block to the right and copied it left, then continued to do that for all blocks to the right. All the high boost place holders above got the same treatment.

So this 30r table is with stock rods? I wasn't sure if I should be more worried about detonation or the stock con rods lol

Getting the same invalid image BS here as an hr ago..

I'm fully wired for knock phones but my skull candy headphones require power through the aux jack and I believe that is why I got no sound unless over laptop playback. I'm going out now to see if any have their own power source locally. I have the $$ seeing as my diff fluid never got change hehe. I'll take a log and stuff.

I was curious about something here. I usually change my plugs for fun which means they get changed with very low mileage :D. Any of you think my spark plug cleaner will be sufficient to make my 5k mile last set of plugs "new" again? I already have 10 clean and set aside for next time.

Edit. Anyone else remember the dannimals commercial with the monkey?

It doesn't matter how much you clean your plugs. You have to have new ones because you're trying to read the ground strap as it becomes heat treated by the spark. You're also looking for specs on the plug. Cleaning might help that lol.

Just use some cheap ear buds for the headphones. No power source needed.

Pretty soon I'm gonna title this thread My Conversation With Chris

Lol

Ok I ordered 2 more sets of FR5DTC tri-strap plugs (for Porches incidentally) and then I can move forward with this testing. I'd never Co sidereal the heat treatment facet. Must be to do with the heat range, where you want the bluing effect to reach no more than half way down the ground straps IIRC. Interesting stuff fo sure.

The output of my knock sensor is SO quiet it's ridiculous. I'll make due.

Lol at the thread title. It's mostly true!

Yes, that's the idea. You want the heat mark at the bend. Amplify that signal a bit if you can and you should hear the knock sensor better.

Good eye Dave. That's the pump I got when I did the 5k's. I love finding tools from the past. It's only $10 for the pump but still, savings.

I think this serves as a lesson on the matter: do people drive lesson dangerously around cars with certain signs on them?

A: NOOOOOOOO!

One time I was on a 6 lane 45 mph heavily busy road and a guy snuck his car's nose out from in front of a huge line of cars on my right. There's a huge line of cars on my left too and he used my middle lane to perform a freaking three point turn! Bottom line... even with a "school students" sign on my car, people would still be trying to murder me on the road lol.

The only thing my school sign would achieve is me being pulled over for every damn amber alert that hits the radio waves.

Drilled/tapped for my Walmart outboard motor oil pump. It has a threaded Yamaha motor fitting which I plugged with an identically threaded hex head bolt. Works like a charm. I put an oil resistant oring on the bolt and then cover in ultra black sealant to prevent tampering or leaks.

My Internet is down today on the laptop and I don't think I want to take pics using my phone. I did the 3rd gear pull with new plugs, drove a mile and then stopped to switch them out. Of course I warmed the car up before putting them in. Ran beautifully in my opinion. I've never done the brief run and check before so I don't know if the ceramic is supposed to still be white like my chops. These FR5DTC plugs obviously have 3 straps and 2 of them have the heat treating marks half way down and the 3rd (possibly from physical placement) has the mark on the tip of it closest to the electrode. My quick look at all 5 makes me think all 5 were like that. Nothing out of the ordinary except for my MAP being unstable. Alot of variation between 4800 and 6400 RPM. Nit sure where to go concerning my PID. I will put up shots tomorrow as well as a log for the 10 seconds in question.

Here's the plugs and a nice family photo in the next post. Kind of funny how only 5 photos are allowed per post. 1 per cylinder :D

So yes there's 3 ground straps. 2 are the same reading of in the center for the heat range but the 3rd has the heat marks at the tip by the electrode. My guess is its from its position in the cylinder in reference to the meth injection mist and somewhere in all this action is some correlation lol. Opinions welcomed.

I tried rotating these and re-saving but the resulting file type when saved was png. I hate my phone. Also sorry.
