Re: 91 200 20vt
So went out to get dinner last night, and tried to start the car in the garage to let her warm up.
Crank Crank Crank, barely starts and runs for 5 secs before the smell of gasoline fills my nostrils.
I pop the hood and discovered this. Looks to me like a jimmy rig?
Does anyone have a part ...

Re: 91 200 20vt
Thank you. I am glad I was finally able to get to it, meaning the brake issues.
I have contacted Marc to get his stage 1+ tuning done finally as well.
That being said, would you all recommend the 1.9 bar upgraded waste gate spring as well in addition to a new diaphragm seal?
And yea, back to ...

Re: 91 200 20vt
Just an FYI for all new type 44 owners....
Buy yourself a set a metric crowfoot wrenches. It will be worth it, it'll save time and your knuckles.
A perfect example is tightening the distributor locking plate nut.

Re: 91 200 20vt
I installed the new brake MC, and did in fact perform bench bleeding before the install.
I don't know if it was entirely necessary but I did do it.
I am now able to drive the car, get it up to full temp after some spirited driving and the front brakes no longer lockup, which is great.

Re: 91 200 20vt
Hey everyone.
Long time, as life just simply gets in the way, as do other projects.
That being said I have a specific question.
I am going about replacing my brake MC. Do I need to bench bleed this unit before I install it?
If so how do you all go about doing so?

I am going to order a couple .003" thick shims from your reference but what is the ID for the shims for our 3b distributors.
Please advise and thanks for your help.

Re: What do you think?
I feel the exact same way about my e30 and the 200. Both PNW cars and it clearly shows.
I read and reread horror stories about e30s all the time (leaks due to rust accumulation, ect) and every time I smile knowing mine has been a Tacoma (area) car all its life.
The reason I inquire about this ...

When I performed an overhaul on my distributor assembly I had just as much "play" in the shaft (up and down) when I reinstalled everything.
No problems.

What is the point/benefit from "drilling out" your stock air-box?
People do this with the s2000's stock air-box but it is purely for "sounds".
Is this the same scenario here?

Re: 91 200 20vt
You are correct! They just have a little plastic cover both where the arm connects and the clip where they pop in. There are two phillips screws underneath. You can pop them off with a flathead, but beware: if they're anything like mine, they're old brittle plastic and they easily disintegrate ...

Another question(s).
