Re: Audi Coupe with Porsche 944 Box Flairs
Not much more got done to the car, and its been a while since last update. I am trying to jumpstart the project and save some time while doing so with engine work. I was going to do the engine assembly myself because I like doing it as much as the rest of the stuff. Contacting " Machine Shops " for ...

Re: Audi Coupe with Porsche 944 Box Flairs
Since plans did not come together on finishing the air ducting, as I have to bend 2 pieces of aluminum water piping so I can keep the number of couplers and hose clamps reasonable. I installed the Christmas present I got from my wife. This solves my problem of losing the factory striker/latch, I ...

All welded up and primed, seam sealed and first coat of paint.

Re: Audi Coupe with Porsche 944 Box Flairs
Thanks PRY4SNO
Yes that strut bar turned out to be heavy duty, but that was the goal. It was made adjustable to ease install after everything is welded (brackets, strut bar). Also it is my understanding that these strut towers are rather weak, so if I crank the adjuster hard, +/- 2 deg. should be ...

Re: Audi Coupe with Porsche 944 Box Flairs
After more painting of weld seams inside the car, I glued some outdoor carped on the ducts inside the car as well. Started making parts for the strut bar after that. At this point I have all the parts made that I need plus hardware for the bar. Some trimming and cutting to length and a few holes ...

Re: Audi Coupe with Porsche 944 Box Flairs
Before the rear ducting floor was reinstalled in the car one last time, some plumbing needed to get done to carry the water to and from the radiator. That meant more brackets, welding, prime/paint, seam seal etc.

Re: Audi Coupe with Porsche 944 Box Flairs
That's a good idea. Don't want to be sidelined by a little rain in a quattro. It will also help if you put a belly pan in the rear.
Thanks jim , I do remember when you did your rear belly pan a while back and had good results with it. Your build thread as well as others will be consulted when my ...

While working on the rear ducting floor piece and looking at water drainage needs. I decided on a rear diff. cooling vent that doubles as a drain. One new hole in the car and a three piece tube later.

That should help get some weight in the rear :hide:

That all looks like this now ready for more primer, seam seal and finish paint. Bolted all the parts together to check fit and make final adjustments. I swear this ducting appears smaller in the car.

I hope you’re planning on putting a more powerful engine in it, ‘cause it’s gonna be a sloth! Unless you’re just going for looks, it’s great. Isn’t it a cute lil fella?!?!

Re: Audi Coupe with Porsche 944 Box Flairs
After getting the floor of the ducting tacked in I had some hard targets and was able to finish the mounting for the radiator. Made a frame for the radiator and fan shroud and mounted that to the floor of the radiator box.

This project...wow! Mike, the work you have put into this is nothing short of impressive. Are you also working on the engine on the side yet? I am interested to see more of the 24 volt electric turbo spool up system you are thinking of? Oh and heads up on the Samurai in the background, very fun NW ...
