DSG conversion
So I've been a huge anti-DSG guy for awhile now but looking into my goals for my 2009 VW Rabbit I might very well need to bow in defeat on this one. I'm here asking for info on making a DSG TDI AWD mk5 happen. It won't be a fast build up by any means as you will find out in a bit, but I need help ...

Re: T44/URS Strut Mounts - Help Me Help You!
Is there any update on these? I am interested in 2 sets of these they look awesome and ay better than anything else I've seen for these cars. I would be putting them on both my V8 Quattro 5-speed and 91 200 20vt Avant if that helps confirm I'm one of those T44/D11 nuts.

Re: My poop coupe
any details on what youre doing for a heater?
It's a summit racing heater. It's a small box with a heater core in it and a 260cfm fan. It comes with some mounting and the wiring. It's much smaller than stock has to outlet vents and a simple 4 position switch. I'm going to install the heater to ...

things are coming along. I bit the bullet and ordered a few more parts than originally planned, but the goal is reliability not total cheapness. IROZ Downpipe, new radiator, race heater, 3" borla XR1 exhaust, and 10 row oil cooler to start out.
So ripped the entire factory heater out since well ...

WTB: small chassis 20vt DP
Looking for a used 20vt down pipe. would prefer a 3" unit, but for the right price I'd do a stock S2 unit.

Starting with an auto. Shorter = better... Hopefully the auto will hold up until I get the 4k road worthy again.
I have a set of brand new never mounted factory V8Q transmounts. Makes it a bolt in affair. You can get most of the parts from an Urs4 like driveshaft, and shift linkage. You'll also ...

Re: My poop coupe
well yesterday in traffic I blew out the high speed fan relay (smelted is a better term). So I think I just wounded an already gimp engine. Doing some diagnosis now, but the coolant was a brown burnt smell which means she got real toasty. Oil temps got to 130C before I could do anything, stuck in ...

So I've never really wanted to do this, but I'm at the end of my rope when dealing with the idiosyncrasy of the 7A ECU. I'm through with trying to make this dumb thing like what I do. Time to pull the worn and beat on 7A out and slap a lowerish mileage 7At in.

Oh man SUPER jealous of the Brullen! Best sounding exhaust on the NA 20v's in my opinion. Can't wait for a video clip both before and after turbo 8)

I bought a beat up old 90 coupe this winter. Car was set up by a friend of mine for rally cross events. I figured Minnesota winters are like rally cross in the snow, especially when you are commuting on roads that haven't been plowed like I frequently am. Bought the car with the intentions of only ...

finally getting back to this project. My Rabbit has been eating up funds as has my tow vehicle. So engine is ready to see what she can take but this k26 turbo stuff is a Joke. Little update.
So I've been trying to progress on the build but work has had me real busy up until recently. The time line I fear will have me well past my planned trip to SOWO this year. I want to attend the show and I really want the car there, but I just don't see the compounds being ready. So ...

if it blows up it blows up. I wasn't going to spend the money a real 20vt costs when I have no plans to keep it stock and no plans to stay 2.2/2.3L.

I'm aware of the higher compression, I don't think it will be that big of an issue with a larger then stock IC and the cold air up here in the north land. I plan on my stroker being 10:1.

little update on this I've been working on it and am almost done building the engine for it. I couldn't get the 3B out in time due to space issues at my shop so I am building a Mutt. Using a 7A long block that I picked up cheap as the base of the engine. 3B exhaust manifold and WG with 2.2 bar ...

well got some more work done, seems the new fuel pump will work quite nicely once i build a small spacer shim to move it back, but the gear and everything swaps straight across from the VW pump. So I should have that issue resolved, next figuring out the fuel lines on the new rail.

Finally have what looks like the solution for my biggest issue with the fueling, how to make the GM LML twin piston pump work. The issue is the stock cp4.1 fuel pump is a single piston with a single feed, the cp4.2 found on the GM LML duramax is a twin piston with 2 feeds. The ...

I can tell you the 18z brake package is insane levels of brakes for any wheel. They engage so quickly the ABS isn't quite sure what to do.
