Hey all,
I'm going back and forth on whether I go through the short block I got (with built rods) for the 4000.
If I do, was curious what folks have used for piston rings. Do I go OEM? Or do I go total seal?
There any benefit in going one over the other?
Appreciate the help!

Yeah - that's what I've seen too. I'd assume it'd be something similar, but obviously looking for 1st or at least 2nd hand experience!varia wrote:on 7A, yes, many times. on 3B, nope :(

Re: Adapting Coil on Plug to 3B Valve Cover
I'm looking at adapting coil on plug to a 3B valve cover!
Currently the holes are too small, so just wasn't sure what all was involved, or if anyone had done it before.

Adapting Coil on Plug to 3B Valve Cover
Hey all,
I'm planning on running 3b intake bits on the AAN I'm putting in my 4000.
Has anyone modded the valve cover to run coil on plug type coils (vs. GM, etc.)?? I've seen folks adapt the 7a valve covers, but not totally positive on what's involved.

Awesome, thanks! I'm going to end up doing the same thing w/ the 20vt swap. Ordered a pair of 90* ones from racetronix, but I think I like what you did better.

Injector Cup alternatives (OEM P/N 034133555)?
Hey all,
I have a 3B manifold that I'll be using, but the plastic injector cups in the IM are either missing or broken.
Are there alternatives to the NLA OEM ones? Found an 0341333555A, but I can't tell if that's for CIS or not (AutohausAZ seems to think they aren't for teh 3B motor, but work on ...

I've been -6 forever and never had a problem, although I am on the upper end of what it will support. -8 is quite a bit more to wrangle and not necessary until your over 600whp or so.

Fuel line size questions
Alright all, I'm starting to prep the 4000 for the AAN swap, since I've cooked my MC (confirmed #3 has a melted quite nicely... :bangshead:).
What size lines should I be putting in? I can't remember if my current setup is -6 or -8, but since I'm starting over, I figured I'd upgrade everything in ...

WTB: Billet 20vt fuel rail?
Hey all, just looking to see if anyone has a billet fuel rail (034 or EFI) kicking around that they'd want to unload?
Have an AAN to go into my 4000 to replace the MC that I cooked at the track (my fault), but figured I'd see what's out there before I go new.
Thanks!!

Re: Alex's 'New' '83 UrQuattro - BBQ X Success
The Dyno results are are a little disheartening for me though. Being on a 2871 I would have though it be a little higher.
At 15psi, and cutting out at 4k RPM, my 4000 put down 215whp when Marc was tuning it (cut out was b/c of breakup due to the 60-2 wheel and losing signal above 4k RPM). We ...

Hey all,
Been a while! Unfortunately, the 'ol MC in the 4000 has bought the farm, and left this world in a cloud of fury at the track last weekend. #3 cylinder is at zero compression, while the other 4 are in good standing.

It might be different on the CQs, but the actual relay switch/button on my 4000, as well as my A4 were the things "responsible" for properly functioning signals and flashers. Might be something to look into/mess with if you're missing it.
Amazing work on the car!

Re: VEMS Tuning Issue - breakup above 4k RPM
It's an MC1 coil I believe (its been a while!!!).
Which menu has the dwell settings in VEMS?
Funny part is, if I roll into it, it will hesitate more than if I just go straight WOT... so it'd make sense it's coil related!
What are good settings for dwell?
Thanks all!

Is there enough pressure from the catch can for that check valve to allow the oil to drain into the block?
I just picked up the block breathing adaptor from Marc, and will be doing something similar on my 4000... this is an interesting idea, but curious if it's naturally open until it gets back ...

Re: Brake caliper piston tool kits... what do you recommend?
I have option 2, and also a HF kit... both work as intended. The issue I ran into w/ the HF unit was that the slip ring that attached the end that engages w/ the caliper piston to the threaded rod bent/broke... so it wouldn't twist the head, only compress. I ended up having to weld the two together ...

I'll put $1 on the fact that you'll rarely, if ever actually take that roll hoop out of the car
BTW, why harness bar at the back vs. in the main hoop right behind seats? Just curious.
